Why did you get disability? I'm american here and I'm thinking about trying to get on it.
27y/o and on $460/mo. SSI for PTSD, MDD, and AvPD.
On it because my doctors felt I should be, and got me in the program.

Good luck, OP, you'll need it
If you are under 40 and still have all your limbs, you're going to get denied pretty quickly and will have to fi!e appeals, get a disability-specialist lawyer and wait through potentially years of getting rejected by the SSA over and over again

If you can manage without it, don't. It's humiliating and depressing. Then every year/couple years you have to go to evaluated in person by state screeners with a bunch of other crazies and cripples just to have someone officially tell you that "ok, yeah. You definitely don't belong in society nor on this planet. Freak."

I was diagnosed with a bunch of shit when I was 15. I think it was bipolar, schizoaffective, depression, anxiety, and OCD. The schizoaffective might have been schizotypical instead, I don't remember.
I haven't been on meds since I was 16, I am 25 now and I am actually functioning pretty well. Besides depression and shit I don't really think too much is wrong with me. I'm homeless though living out of my car cause I couldn't find a job after college. This would help me get on my feet. I figured I might as well use those diagnoses for my benefit.
Any idea how much the lawyer and shit would cost?

They usually charge proportionally to the amount of back-pay you get when you eventually get approved, usually 10% to 25%

I have a few hospitalizations from way back in the day too. The only thing is I don't really have anything medical from the last three years.
I haven't gotten it yet, no lawyer.... but I want to try.
I have the typical shit... depression, anxiety, asperger's, and then a touch of the dissociative identity disorder which is probably the most significant psychological illness.
But the big deal lies in my neurological / auto immune diseases. Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus.
