I have 3k+ on Dark Souls 1. Can't give exact hours because of the limitation on the amount of characters you can have. I've deleted probably 5 or 6 characters with 10-50 hours each on them.

The truly sad part is I have one single character with just over 1200 hours on it. I made that build in the summer of 2012 and it's my main duelling character and practically the only one I use. I feel a disturbing level of attachment to him. I mean shit the thing is almost 5 years old at this point. It basically feels like my child.

Oh yeah I understand. I've climbed about 1000 mmr on my main and I'm still going. I consider myself pretty good with my favorite heroes (Wr, Dp, PA). Wr because she's versatile and I learned the game with her, Krob because for whatever reason I'm really good with her in most roles, and pa because she's so fucking cute with the arcana and equipment I have on her.

It's a pretty fun game, similar to dwarf fortress. However unlike dwarf fortress it's a lot easier to get into. There's a tutorial box that guides you through the basics. A few hours in and I already had a functioning base and was already planning goals for the future.

Though you can also just look online and see how others organize their base, helps put things into reference.

Yeah there's a wide selection of difficulty setting and they also have a cool storyteller mechanic where depending on which one you choose you get presented with a different variety of challenges. If you choose the base builder difficulty (easiest) and Phoebe Chillax (chill) storyteller you pretty much won't have anything to worry about.

Though if you're like me I play on Randy Random (unpredictable events) with extreme difficulty it does get to be pretty crazy at times.

Please can someone tell me why the fuck i'm like this?

The first game i've started to play on steam was Counter Strike Global Offensive in 2014. I was really good at it (legendary eagle, almost leveling up) then, for no apparent reason, i never played it again, after 500hrs of playtime.
Then some friends invited me to play dota. Played for 1 year, ~~500hours and then i've suddenly didn't wanted to play anymore.
These same friends tried to entertain me by making me download another MOBA: League of Legends. I've played it for 1 year (with ~~800hrs) and i've uninstalled it january this year.

Why the fuck can't i play any game for so long without losing my interest in it?

I even tried to play CS:GO again, ranked up to Gold III and lost my interest again in the game.

Do you believe that the more hours you play, the more you will get better, or there's some kind of individual limit a person hits and then stops improving?

I've seen many 500hrs people play like pros and 1k hours people still making so many mistakes

I don't have a favourite. Check out Gekokujo, The last Days, Warsword, A clash of Kings, even Floris. I played many more than that though. As you probably know, the module system is very convenient and you can install all of these total conversion mods at the same time so I recommend trying a variety until you know what you want.

I've got about 13,200 hours logged on WoW. Quit last xpac, four time glad, around 600,000 hks, Warbringer title, HWL, and still it's never helped gotten me laid or impressed a single person who wasn't online

There's definitely diminishing returns. The key to getting better is just having the good mindset, but at first just playing games will make you better. The better you get though, and it the more important it becomes to train with a proper mindset in place. Perfect practice and all that. Of course, it just gets more difficult the better you get.

I never got into TF2, but all shooter games are basically the same.

For me it is a combination of zoning out to escape life emotionally and mentally, zoning out because I like the feeling of being "in the zone" ( when you're just mercing the enemy team and every shot you take is connecting and they keep missing and you feel unstoppable for a short time ), I like to listen to podcasts and audio books while playing shooters because there's no story and I only speak/listen to strats when playing competitive, I like being in a lobby with "internet people" who I can talk/text/shoot/jump on/ or in many other ways interact with without committing to making friends and maintaining a relationship.

Plenty of other reasons, but those are the big ones I can think of right now that have always made me an "endurance player" when it came to the life cycle of online FPS games. It started with CoD 2: Big Red One multiplayer and it's been history since.

But you're assuming they want to or have the ability to learn a skill, plenty of people start guitar and other instruments as well as things like drawing, writing, etc, but give up after a few hours because those things are difficult and you don't start to feel the reward from them until you've wasted a ton of time. Games aren't like that, you can spend a few minutes or hours a day in a game and always achieve something, whereas five minutes of guitar practice won't help you with anything.

If I have to take a dump, I crouch like an Indian about to shit in the street right next to my bed so my laptop is about neck level and I can keep playing even though the turd is pushing hard. It physically feels better to be squatting. So by doing that I can get an other round or two in before taking a shit. I somehow justify it to myself in the moment because I do it pretty regularly even though I know it's literally so obscene a decision to make that it could easily be a biblical example of gluttony or avarice or greed.
