Tinnitus being insufferable is a meme.

When I lay down to go to sleep, it sounds like there's a car idling just outside my room while someone's blowing a whistle. You either learn to block it out or you dwell on it and start not being able to never hear it.

I feel truly blessed that I don't have this condition. Even if my ears start ringing for 10 seconds, I get beyond uncomfortable

Can one of you robots explain how tinnitus comes about? Is it usually due to some physical trauma, or can it happen for no reason at all?
