You do raise a good point, though. If you had a holographic gf on a holodeck, or a virtual gf in a virtual reality program, does anything you do to her count as real? Does anything she do to you count as real? If she stabbed and killed you, that would certainly be real because you would be dead. When you die in a dream you don't die in reality, so it's not really a comparison.
