Manual yuropoor here, automatic is objectively more efficient and leaves far less room for errors, and is less demanding of the driver.
Manual is subjectively more fun to drive, you can do some shit with it that's basically impossible with automatic (if you are amazingly good, which i an not, but i recognize the higher skill ceiling).
So if you're driving somewhere automatic is great, but if you're just driving for fun manual is better imo.

You would get more value out of something different. BMWs are expensive and difficult to work on. May not seem like your problem but it is. You also don't need rear wheel drive unless you want it. I would go for a late model pre owned acura, lincoln town at/crown vic, or maybe even an Infiniti if you want rwd. Idk how much you paid but it was too much for what you were looking for.

It is a nice, well made car. You get what you pay for. You could have a lot more fun in something else. But if comfort is all you seek, I guess a bimmer makes sense. It will last long. Just be sure to take care of it.

Its more fun than sitting in room or movie theatre of a movie you dont wanna watch because you and whoever is with you can belt out songs while going quick on a 2 lane road. I had my childhood IQ estimated at around 120. Later in middle and high school, I was put into a 'gifted program' which required the equivalent of an IQ of 130.

When I was in kindergarten and 1/2nd grade, I didn't even memorize my basic numerical facts. I grew up thinking I sucked at math because I never tried. I saw other kids getting praised for memorizing how to add a certain sequence of numbers and I swore off math.

I later found the beauty in mathematics. No math is ever 'easy.' You have to make an effort on even the simplest things. I always saw kids in class getting the right answer when the teacher asked questions. It seemed like they instantly knew the answer. They didn't; Euclid said "There is no royal road to geometry."
Studying Mathematics requires an initial workload I thought I couldn't handle. Math is challenging, you have to press on.

I always get a kind of determination when I am set against a math, programming, engineering, or other logical problem. I lose track of time pretty easily when I am in the heat of the moment. It's a weird kind of rush when you just start forming a plan of how to attack something.

I think a lot of people avoid math because they started off not very good at it and then they just subconsciously said "fuck it, I guess I'm not a math guy". Being strong with your math basics makes problem solving tons more fun. I think the other reason is that 90% of your math classes give you a problem, tell you how to solve it, and the test is basically rote memorization, which takes out most of the fun of problem solving.

I do think practicing is worth it though. Especially for people like us. I have never been very good with everything outside of school, which pushed me into academics, but now, the rush and purpose I get from problem solving alone pushes me further. Whenever you solve a problem, there is nobody who can prove you wrong and discredit your work. And whenever somebody gets better results than you, you can see exactly what they did instead of throwing your hands up and wondering why some people are just magically better than you.

Research has always struck me as the best job a robot can do. It's mentally stimulating, and you actually feel like you did something that helped humanity as a whole. Even if I'm not remembered once I die, maybe some of the work I do will echo on.

I don't think a high IQ makes happier than a low IQ, but living your life just to be happy is a relatively modern concept. At the end of the day, you have to live with yourself as a person, and the feeling that me existing makes the universe better keeps me alive.

Let me show a real life example. My distant cousin joined the marines, he's been in 19 years and is about to retire as an E-7. He makes about $3k a month roughly. I joined the airforce about 14 months ago, my grandpa was a war vet (saw Hiroshima and reenlisted during Vietnam, left as a major) and gave me a recommendation. I went to officer school, and came out as a 2d Lt making $3k a month I outrank my cousin who's been deployed twice and is twice my age and fought on the front line. I'm about to get promoted to 1st L and make even more soon.

I literally sit on my ass messing around with computers in a cool AC room in the chairforce like a normal job, and I outrank some person who's almost died. Is it fair? No, but that's what nepotism is. If I wasn't written a recommendation, there's a good chance I would've stayed in for 20 years and never even got to his rank. It's just reality, nepotism runs this world from the bottom all the way to the top. I won't deny the world is largely based on connections and (dare I say) privilege. Hell, the fact you were even born in a first world country is a leg up on most of the world. Still, you have to admit that knowing your shit is a requirement for 99% of jobs that actually mean something.

It took me 6 weeks of studying to learn what I've been doing the past year, I pretty much make sure no dipshit infects a computer on base and I go to a lot of boring meetings. I got a bullshit degree from an online university, I copied and pasted all the answers. I'm in a similar position to you but much better. I'm not in the fucking military but work for the Federal government.

I get to work 7.5 hours whenever I want between 7a-7p. And if I work over 7.5 hours, I get to accrue 'flex time'. So if I build up 7.5 hours of flex time I get to take a day off and so on.

But yeah enjoy your drill and shitty uniforms and living on shitty bases in bumfucksville while I get to live in my comfy hometown

I'm based in Texas right now, my first base was Okinawa and it was pretty fun. I used all my days and went to the last comiket and chilled during Christmas drank a whole lotta fucking sake. Meh, for the amount of effort I put in I can't imagine getting anything better. It's like glorified welfare.
