I've read a shitload of mangas and Uzumaki ranks among the best. Most of Junji Ito's stuff is interesting but nothing is as good as uzumaki.

Can't say much about the genre, though. Besides Ito I don't recall anything worthwhile. I did read a lot of guro back in the day, make sure to give gurochan a lurk.

The fotomodel, the window next door and the Story about the greasy house is pretty great. He manages to convey true horror like no other artist know

Uzumaki was pretty good, but I got pretty bored by Tomie.
