We used to run at a field track after school years ago and some immigrant kid called Abdul who was as skinny as a stick used to run extremely fast. We were all about 14/15.
We timed Abdul do a 100m sprint and he clocked in at 9.45 which I have never forgot because that literally makes him the fastest recorded being at 100m.
He moved back to wherever he came from (likely deported) and I have not seen him since we finished school those years ago.
He could not speak English and this is the only memory I have of him.
doubt it was actually 100m

There was paint along the tracks that shown how long, all together the circuit was 400m but he started from the 100m line

top athletes break world records all the time at practice. but it doesn't count because it's not official. that's why breaking it in competition is such a huge deal. it would be like if you could predict the future, but were only able to do it one time before. and you spent years trying to do it again, but in front of people. and then one day you finally do it. how ecstatic would you be? same thing.

Well that makes it feel more believable to me now then because I was beginning to wonder if I was deluding myself. Still though I will always be impressed by the memory
