what is the oldest anime you've watched? did you like it?
Urusei Yatsura was a good anime,
i still think shinobu was best girl
>>34923950
Spirited Away
One cold but cozy night when I was fairly young, my parents left me at home because they had to go do something. I turned on the tv and this was just starting. I shed a tear every time I remember how nice being a kid was. I haven't felt true happiness in over nine years.
I feel the most common answers will be:
1) dragon ball (normie answer)
2) evangelion (semi-normie answer)
- enter otaku territory -
mobile suit gundam
crusher joe
astro boy
cowboy bebop / initial D
sailor moon maybe?
I watch old anime for the artstyle it's much more comfy than modern anime
>>34924280
>cowboy bebop
>otaku
Lmao kys you normie cuck
I think it was saint seiya, but I don't remember shit about it.
Then dragon ball. I remember I used to like it a lot but I don't remember shit about it either.
My childhood is blurry
prob. yu yu hakusho
It was great
Chika Gentou Gekiga: Shoujo Tsubaki not counting dragonball because everyone knows it
pretty weird, i remember feeling sad throughout it
Think it's sorcerer hunters or Yu Yu.

SDF Macross - 1982
>>34923950
>oldest
Slayers movie I think.
Man they got away with more sexual innuendos back then.
>>34924432
Yu yu is the best. Better than dragon ball and didn't last long enough to get retarded.
Golgo 13: The Professional
Very much, watch the movies or the anime series if you want to feel badass and/or want to see a japanese take on James Bond
>>34923950
Golden Boy
Im not even a weeb and that shit is amazing to me. Good story, laughs, tied up neatly in the end. Go watch it if you havent.
>Trigun
It was enjoyable
>>34924557
Well super has it going some what back to it's roots of being some what slap stick.
>people not posting opening and ending
https://youtu.be/vC8JY1JQ8II
God damn older animes had some jam openings.
https://youtu.be/BvbVF2Q9qgM
>>34923950
I don't usually don't go by dates but I think SAC.
One of my faves [reeing from hipsters]. Actually rewatching right now to get hype for the shitshow movie because I love gits even if that and arise are garbo.
>>34923950
Speed Racer (dubbed), watched all of it.
Absolutely loved it. In my top five animes.
I guess I also watched the black and white Astro Boy, but I didn't particularly like it, and it wasn't great.
Of all eras of animes, though, I feel like the ones made in the 90s are by far the best. Modern animes don't do it for me like the older ones do, although I feel like they're better now than they were in the early 2010s.
>>34923950
official I guess it'd have to be this
I never liked it. Then there's dragonball and ranma. I didn't like those either
There was an old anime movie that was about some magical kingdom taken over by a shape shifting goblin. He turned the castle's inhabitants into mice and once the protagonist killed him, they reverted to humans again. It was at least 40 years old when I saw it on TV,possibly older. Not much to go on,but maybe someone among you who knows these things could tell me its title and links to info.
>>34923950
This was my favorite cartoon as a child (Belle & Sebastian). I was about 5 when I used to watch it in the 80's, and obviously I had no concept of what anime was then. Great children's show though - they should bring it back.
>>34923950
>what is the oldest anime you've watched?
That I watched beginning to end?
Dunno, probably City Hunter (1987).
Fucking rocks.
That I watched sporadically?
That I can recall, Doraemon.
And probably Heidi and some others of the same style.
I was a kid, they were pretty good.
>>34924809
>official I guess it'd have to be this
you forgot to post an image
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water
Both are spectacular.
How has nobody mentioned Ninja Scroll yet?
It was popular as fuck
Manly tears/10
Sally the witch
It's kino
>>34923950

>>34924557
>didn't last long enough to get retarded.the three king saga felt unnecessary to me.
>>34924280
otaku territory is lupin the third, fist of the north star, urusei yatsura, mobile suit gundam. You know the actual good shows
>>34925452
do we know what aku's new voice actor sounds like?
Space Pirate Captain Harlock or Galaxy Express 999. Can't remember which series is older.
>>34923950

not really. very visually appealing though.
>>34923950
Galaxy express or gundam
>>34923950
cowboy bebop, i liked it but i never finished it because i forgot what episode i was on
Probably the first season of Lupin III, it was pretty decent but I never finished it. Good, but far from my favorite.
>>34925792
Actually it was the original casshern sins, can't remember the actual title.
>>34925745
watched the first three episodes yesterday
did not grab me at all
Probably this, it wasn't very good. I decided to watch it after reading the manga.
>>34923950
>oldest anime
first of the north start
>did you like it?
fuck yes
I've seen older than this, but this actually liked
>>34925792
I was gonna say Lupin III part one nigga
You should finish it, it's probably still my favorite Lupin interpretation.
>>34926613
I mean it's great, but it's just not my thing. Most memorable thing about it was the Alpine because FRANCE.
>>34925022
I meant speed racer
Saw this DVD titled "the Roots of Japanese Anime", it had some pretty old stuff.
>The Village Festival Noburo Ofuji 1930
>Song of Spring Noburo Ofuji 1931
>Chinkoroheibei and the Treasure Box Noburo Ofuji 1936
>The Monkey Masamune Yasuji Murata 1930
>Chamekos Day Kiyoji Nishikura 1931
>Danemon Ban The Monster Exterminator Yoshitaro Kataoka 1935
>Benkei and Ushiwaka Kenzo Masaoka 1939
>Momotaros Sea Eagle Mitsuyo Seo 1942
and watched separately
>Momotaro's Divine Sea Warriors (1945)
They weren't too bad taking the age into account. Beyond that I also saw some collection of Osamu Tezuka's works from the 60's and on. My favourite among them is "Jumping".
In terms of actual series it's probably something like Lupin III, Harlock, LoGH, GE999, Starzinger, Hokuto no Ken or maybe some early Ghibli movie. Not seen Astroboy or Cyborg 009 yet.
Helped out in a VHS rental store in the late 80's, Hokuto no Ken and Starzinger could be found with glorious swedish dub kek.

Kimba the White Lion
I loved it.
Area 88 was really good.
Umezu Kazuo no noroi.
I love his manga but god this anime is Garbage.

I don't watch sports anime either
>>34923950
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Road of the Fireflies
Watch Road of the fireflies. You will cry gallons of tears. It was amazing.
To completion? Captain Harlock TV series, it was entertaining but unmemorable.

UCHUU SENKAN YAMATO, YOU FUCKING MILLENIALS.

The original. Subtitled. Not Starblazers.
Space Battleship Yamato. 1974.
>>34923950
Akira or the Daicon shorts if they count.
Yes to both.
>>34928052
This.
Absolutely best anime ever.
>>34923950

whoa. Well that, and I love it.
>>34923950
i used to watch sailormoon, dragonball and digimon as a kid
yes i loved them as a kid
as a teen i also watched bayblade, i liked that one too
other than that i don't watch anime, it's for faggots
>>34927254
O fug, I didn't even know there was one, did they improve the sound and audio for it? Back then I didn't think anything of the VA, but as japanese became more natural it feels off as hell listening to that stuff now.

There is zero improvement - it's probably the worst hack job of a DVD release ever.
That makes it even more hilarious.
>>34923950
Either Lady Oscar or Lupin the third.
I liked both but Lady Oscar the most.
>>34924356
Everyone here in Italy has seen this and remembers the opening song, it's a classic.
>>34928052
The soundtrack in Lady Oscar is amazing
>>34924239

Most young people have watched Fist of the North Star where I live.
>>34928959
Please stop shitposting or evan trying beating.
So what was the oldest anime you'v watched ?
>My oldest:
Galaxy express 999
>>34930452
>Most young people have watched Fist of the North Star where I live.
where the fuck do you live
>>34923950
i only watch 70s-80s mecha anime so
>>34923950
Probably Dragonball. I liked Dragonball when I was a kid, but less so now.
Some enjoyable older animes I watched are:
Evangelion
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Gundam wing
Outlaw Star
Corey in the House
Cardcaptor Sakura
Sailor moon
>>34923950
Speed Racer.
If that doesn't count, then Mazinger Z. I liked the 20-something episodes I saw of it, but I think it's a little too formulaic compared to later Super Robot shows it inspired.
>>34923950
Ashita no Joe is the oldest I think. 1970. I thought it was alright but didn't finish it yet. Have to be in the right mood for it. Hajime on Ippo is more accessible. The art is beautiful though - think old school Disney, Snow White type of thing - and there's an air of desolation that surrounds it.
>>34923950
your dad's pretty old and i watched my dick go in and out of his butt. is that like what you're talking about? and no, i didn't like it. he doesn't know how to wipe.
>>34924356
Heidi is GOAT.
Remember when she got to hand-feed a wild deer after leaving some hay by a tree every day? Max comfy
>>34930525
France. It was broadcast on a children's programme in the 80s/90s. For younger people I think it was broadcast on another channel in the 00s.
>>34923950
Astro Boy (1950s I think?) It was it. It was definitely it different time.
Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin
It was the shit, dogs fighting bears, sign me the fuck up.
>>34932352
I think you posted the wrong picture.
>>34923950
Lupin III
was bretty good
Oldest anime I've ever seen is the original Mazinger Z series from '72.
Oldest I've watched is the original Gundam. Both were good but Zeta was better.
also kimagure orange road is great
nowadays anime is only made to sell toys to fat japanese retards.
Apart from Heidi, which I always watched as a kid before going to bed, the oldest series I finished is probably Record of Lodoss War.
The oldest film is Nausica from the Valley of the Winds, of course.
>>34934575
Hey, I'm not Japanese!
If films count, then Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. If not, then Serial Experimentz Lain.
>>34934575
>nowadays anime is only made to sell toys to fat japanese retards.
ok
>>34923950
Akira I think is the oldest I've watched
>>34924280
Thinking just because an animie is popular its normie
>>34932557
Does that dog have nipples?
>>34924356
Fucking love Heide since I was a child, thanks for reminding me that I need to finish it
Also remember I used to felt like a "sissy" everytime I watched it, funny how I can watch, say, non non biyori, New Game, Kuma Miko, K-on and other similar and don't feel like a faggit anymore
>>34923950
gunbuster. it was pretty great.
>>34934618
original top shekels
>>34923950
Mazinger with crabstick subs probably. It's pretty good. Boss best boy.
>>34936198
yes, you can clearly see this if you use your eyes.
I haven't finished it yet but Space Pirate Captain Harlock
its great
>>34936198
All dogs have nipples you dummy.
>>34923950
A Devilman movie. Yes
I got into anime when i was really young
For me it's pic related, still the best anime too
I know it's not old at all, but then I don't really like anime, I just watched it as a kid
i use to be into dragon ball z and sailor moon. it was on tv at the time.
Hm.
- guyver
- hunter x hunter (1999=my eternal favourite)
- dragonball z
- vampire hunter d
- blood: the last vampire
- trigun
- ninja scroll
- hellsing
- naruto
- full metal panic
..
not counting WWII propaganda cartoons, Mobile Suit Gundam. I keep meaning to watch more 70s Mecha but my backlog is horrendous as-is.
>tfw the first anime I've watched is Umaru
I spent of my childhood with no internet and no friends and almost no TV, I didn't even know what anime was.
I've met a weeb girl at my last year of HS and she bugged me to watch it because it's her favorite anime.
What a pleb that bitch was.
>>34941112
>I spent of my childhood with no internet and no friends and almost no TV
Pretty unusual in this day and age. Are your parents anti-technology or did you grow up in some extremely rural place?
I used to watch Hello kitty with my sister if that counts like anime
If not then i think evangelion or sailor moon are the oldest ones, i hated DBZ and Saint seiya
>>34930388
Well, more than a classic, is a curse that was struck on us by japanese/swiss people.
"heidi, heidi, ti sorridono i monti" is a thing you don't want to hear at night in a dark halleway.
