This song always gets me. It starts with a somewhat upbeat jaunt, but quickly hits a melancholy downbeat that breaks my fucking heart every damn time. The rest of the tune seems to accept the depressing turn of events as a fact of life meant to be taken in stride.

The sadness lingers then and throughout, a shadow hanging over every high note still to come.

When I first listened to the album I missed the whole sub narrative of everything just being a metaphor for the guys failed relationship with his gf. Ruined it for me, the album is a lot more moving when you think its about watching a loved one with terminal illness fade away.
