Auvic, Au5, IYFFE, and related. The Complextro genre. Though that's mostly up to interpretation I guess. I love layered songs with plenty of things on top of one another, but dislike drops.

Liquid Drum & Bass. I'd probably listen to more electro-swing if it didn't all sound samey after a while. Glitch-Hop, I LOVE glitch-hop, can't find enough good ones of that lately.

Used to listen to Trance a lot but it seems like everything I listen to feels samey now. Alphazone is gone, Alex M.O.R.P.H. seems to be gone, Midway was a one-hit-wonder... Eh.

Uh I listen to lots of really unpleasant music like punk and metal, I like softer stuff like rock music too, uhh soundtracks can be unexpectedly great especially if you like instrumentals (I do). The only thing I really don't like is country.

I shouldn't say I strictly hate country, I enjoy stuff like rockabilly or some of the oldies. Johnny Cash is great for example. But any of that kinda pop-country Buy Me A Boat, Dixie Chicks, droning southern babble drives me crazy.

Evelyn, a modified dog
Viewed the quivering fringe of a special doily
Draped across the piano, with some surprise
In the darkened room
Where the chairs dismayed
And the horrible curtains
Muffled the rain
She could hardly believe her eyes
A curious breeze
A garlic breath
Which sounded like a snore
Somewhere near the Steinway (or even from within)
Had caused the doily fringe to waft & tremble in the gloom
Evelyn, a dog, having undergone
Further modification
Pondered the significance of short-person behavior
In pedal-depressed panchromatic resonance
And other highly ambient domains . . .

They know how to make some friggin noise.

And hey, since you're a first wavefag, what do you think of Labraford - Mi Media Naranja ?

I like Labraford, but there's this tone in that plays during "S" that really bugs the shit out of me. Like, it's at that perfect frequency to give me a migraine. I can't get through the album because they use it so often. It's this incredibly high pitched pinging sound that I can't handle

I can't decide between Burning Off Impurities and Doomsdayer's Holiday as my favorite Grails album. In general I think they got better with each release though. I'm looking forward to their new album.

Mi media naranja seems to be the most popular Labradford album, probably because that was the album where the production ramped up considerably, but it's not my absolute favorite of theirs. And one reason is that sound you mentioned. Seemed like an odd misstep on an otherwise good album. I enjoy the 1996 s/t and El Luxo So more.

Oh thank God I'm not the only one who hears it and thinks it's annoying. I just needed to confirm. It's a really cinematic album overall, but SHIT that sound gets to me.

I just google "scaruffi 8/10 albums" and you'll find a list on rym of all his albums rated 8+, there's absolutely no shame in scaruffi-core, the man has written pages upon pages on the history of every musical genre out there. He has proven to have a shitton of knowledge and I'd say he's about as close to objectivity you can get.
>tfw scaruffi has reviewed one of your favorite albums positively but not rated it
>will never know what he REALLY thought of it
>>
>Mid-2000s hip-hop (mostly southern stuff, Three 6, T.I., Chamillionaire, etc.)
>Conscious hip-hop (Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique)
>80s hair ballads (Whitesnake, Poison, Bon Jovi, etc.)
>James Taylor
>Eminem
>Some anime and video game music

Elder is amazing. Sleep too. I love Dopethrone but not much of their stuff beyond that. I don't even smoke dope.

I like Sibylle Baier. Listen to Alela Diane or Marissa Nadler.

Yeah it's very good. I heard it for the first time last week. Been trying to find more stuff like his. I'm trying to learn how to make music like that and it's good inspiration.

I dislike most hip hop, but early 'Mystic Stylez' era Three 6 Mafia is my guilty pleasure.
It's got this grimy, dark sound to it that I don't hear in much other hip hop.
Also not 3-6, but I like that one song with the grungy drum loop and M.i.a. sample - 'swagger like us' i think.
