Eh, I've posted about this before, but that was a couple of years ago.

Dude was the QB, year ahead of me. Our school in the Ozarks was small and extremely freaked about gay people. All it took was someone to say you looked gay, and your life was fucked--and this dude and his bros tortured me for three years because they decided I was gay.

When he was 25, he came out as gay on FB. I didn't hear about it, I consciously avoided him. Then, he got married a couple of years after that, and someone realized his new husband looked just like me.

So, some fuckers had to tell me about that, along with letting me know that they still thought I was a faggot, wondered why I wasn't fucking dead yet, etc.

People I barely remembered by then.

Anyhow, 12 years after high school, he's out, proud, and has an antiques and hardware store in TN with his hubbie, and an adopted son. Everyone is like, "ooh, Chad is so strong! What a great example!"

In that same time, I've become a friendless failure who works, eats, shitposts, sleeps, and does nothing else. I reach wizard status in May.

On the rare occasion I encounter someone from high school, they either respond with instant, cold-as-fuck hatred (even people I thought I got along with...not even a pretense of pleasantry) or they just ignore me.

I understand holding a grudge, but shit...what did I do to them that was so fucking awful? Sit next to them on the bus one day when no one else would let me sit with them?
