My biggest feel from being old is that when I was 12-14 I used to run a 3 line BBS out of my bedroom. When I was 15 in 1995 I wanted to expand and become an ISP.

I only needed like $50K to get it started (couple of T1s, bunch of computers, etc.)

I know it sounds like it could never have happened, but my dad was a business guy and helped with the plan -- he also would have been our "grey hair" in the future with any other investors -- and I had a rich uncle that probably would've invested. Adults used to think of me as some genius wiz kid, and I used to be outgoing and .. lingually adroit.

My few best friends were also computer nerds, and would've helped to build/run this thing for shares.

That same year my uncle became terminally ill (didn't know that at the time), and not long after my friends and I discovered the joys of drinking vodka and being teenage assholes. Oh, and I became chronically depressed (unrelated to above).

I'm working on quitting smoking and for February I'm smoking a cigarette every 2 hours, then for March I'll smoke one every 3 hours for the first 2 weeks then 4 hours for the second 2 weeks and quit on the 31st. I just hope I won't sound like I'm pulling peoples legs if I ever tell them I quit smoking the day before April Fool's Day.

Once I quit smoking I'm gonna start working on all kinds of ways of bettering myself, like getting better at Guitar, Chess, Programming, Exercise and anything else that I can't think of right now.

I couldn't sleep so I just got up and shaved my hair off. Been growing it for about 6 months, but last month I started water-only washing. There's a nasty greasy period when you stop using shampoo that lasts for 2-4 months, so rather than go through that with long hair I figured I'd buzz it off and sail through on easy mode.

That's what's going on right now.

you can be a neet and still mature, still experience life, still have an internal chronology of the passing years based on what you've learned and so on. you only wind up at 30+ feeling lost and aimless if you spent the preceding decade indulging in meaningless distractions rather than truly exercising your mind and thinking deeply about life. you don't need to define yourself by society's standards, it's your choice. the only difference between you and someone with 3 kids is that you have the glorious free time they only wish they still had. that should give you a boost of enjoyment for life, just realizing that the grass isn't greener on the other side, it's actually yellow and withering away.

It's reasonable sounding in theory but incomes are things that fluctuate it's not a fixed thing one has their entire life. In practice that means you're going to bail the second the guy makes less money, has an accident, gets laid off, economy goes somewhat bad, ect. ect.
