If you do this your not solving your problem that comes down to companionship. When your a girl you will want companionship in your life. Even if you change sexes your still going to be limited by your social ability. Becoming a female isn't going to give you a huge boost to your self esteem, it might temperately but its going to decent back to where it is now. What you need to do is improve yourself and show people that your worth being around. Doing this is much harder and I still have to figure that out.
