Half Life 1had basically - for better or worse - shaped my taste in games forever, since it was the first game I played.

The first couple of times I tried to play it, the tram journey was too long for a kid so I shut it off, until I later learned to appreciate the role of the tram ride in showing the player the atmosphere of Black Mesa.

I used to get real afraid sometimes while playing the game.

OP i feel bad for you, half life is a big deal for me even though i dont enjoy it anymore, even online. My PC is crap for video games anyways

What kills me is that i used to play the multiplayer alone and LARP playing with other people since i didnt have an internet connection and the internet caffes didnt want to install the game since it was "outdated" in 2003 plus nobody wanted to play it with me since the ~*new hot thing*~ was counterstrike 1.2 or 5 or what ever the version was at the time. On my old pentium 2 computer i could never go past the automatic door at the spot where you encounter the houndeye for the first time, the explosion and screech was terrifying, autism wasnt very kind to me. After I actually bit the bullet, gathered some courage i went through it and actually started playing, it was horrifying but i still pushed. On that computer i got stuck at the Power Up level where after you activate the generator you where supposed to run to the transformer, activate the switch and kill the damn thing. The harddrive crashed too early for me to actually do it, good thing i still have the CD after all these years and im glad they actually made a port for linux, the spects aren't really 1:1 but hey, at least it works

not too surprising desu, i think most games do shit like this. in order to spawn a new set of bullets to be put back in the revolver i think the engine would have to load new shit into RAM and will eventually need to unload the old bullets being despawned, which is wasteful when you could just reuse them. i think this type of thing causes some occasionally glitchy behavior in phantasy star online with your lasers you shoot out at enemies, sometimes they seem to come from weird directions like they're being summoned from below the ground.

this is true of every clip/magazine/whatever in all the gun anims, even 99% of custom anims
the only anims i can remember where you needed to rig up two separate mags were sureshot's pistol and hellspike's ak

also, fun fact: jennifer!'s revolver anims, which predate the source engine, work on essentially the same concept as this except they're much better
