Anyone majoring in EE here?
>tfw looking at simple transistor circuits and I just can't figure out what's going on
how do you do it
>>34735078
read the fucking book then
you are retarded if you think you can just look at a transistor circuit without any prior knowledge of transistors and immediately understand it
>>34735134
ofcourse I know how a transistor works
and even the explanation in my book don't help me figure out how it works because I just cannot comprehend it
For simple DC bias circuits, I do something like:
Try to solve the mesh around base and colector, remember Vbe is around 0.7 V. Get base current, then colector current as beta x Ib.
Get the voltage of all nodes since you know all currents. Get the DC bias point (Ic, Vce)
Now, if you need to do some sick small signal analisysread the damn book, Boylestad, Floyd, Razavi and many others you coul use

YES yes yes I am sorta familiar with these but my actual probelm is understanding how the circuit works but thanks anyway it's a good reminder

>colector
Sorry, I mean emmiter

Think of a transistor as a knife switch, and all of the switches are either open or closed depending on whether the gate, in the case of a fet, is biased.

I'm in CpE but ive taken a bunch of EE courses. For transistors getting the kvl equation will help you solve 70% of all problems. The rest you have to know some general equations/relationships. like how voltage gain is calculated. Mainly just do as many practice problems as possible and make sure you have the final answer so you can compare. You'll get bored after a while and stop struggling thats when you know you can solve practically all problems.
also if you want to know how they really work as in like npn pnp thats kind of difficult but doable if you work at it. mainly look up videos on youtube. always choose one that is short and preferably animated. I've found that animated videos are explained so simply and in non-technical language.
