is any other robot here working on a novel/book/comic/scrypt/short stories?

what are you writting about?
>>
Probably the second strangest thing I've ever written, but I'm working on a piece of erotica for my girlfriend for Valentine's Day that basically expands the "plot" of a roleplay we do.

I'm having a hard time with it though. It's kinda awkward? I dunno.
>>
I finished and epublished a short story about a livestream
>>
>>34682672
Where at, anon? Amazon?
>>
I want to write loads of stuff. Most recently, I had an idea for governments becoming involved in a racing series a little like Formula 1 but with hydrogen powered cars, and eventually H-Bombs being dropped after the Russians lose.
I really don't have the energy, though.
>>
Yes, it's called "The anon that wrote "writing" as "writting". A very intriguing story indeed.
>>
I writefag on /co/ and /qst/ sometimes. It's fun, but I don't think I'm a very good writer. I wrote a short story about a marine biologist last year, though, but again, it's probably not very good.

Music is my main thing, anyways
>>
i write funny short stories using my circle of internet friends as characters
i think i would cringe into oblivion if i ever tried to write something serious
>>
>>34684425
I writefagged on /co/ too. What kind of stuff?
>>

Writing various stories. I've been writing off and on for years, but I never seem to get better, or even to get above pure mediocrity.

I think the reason I even started writing in the first place was because I thought it was a purely innate talent which required no effort. And I've always been very lazy, so I jumped at the chance to be special for free.

Despite my lack of talent, I've come to feel like it's my destiny to be a writer. Maybe that's a bit extreme. At the very least, I think that I can't help it, even if it's bad. I tried to stop for a few weeks one time and I started getting bad dreams.
>>
>>34685018
I know they get a lot of shit, and rightfully so these days, but it was the spooktober threads that I started posting stories in. Those threads used to be mondo cozy, but they're just rotten now because of a couple of overzealous anons

Of course a few of the stories a lewd, but they're mostly fluff
>>
I was writing a fantasy story about a princess who is marrying a king.
There was going to be a bunch of other monarchs arriving (seven I think) and I think I was going to have it so they get into an argument and it ends with them all preparing for war. The premise of the marriage was they just got out of a war and were celebrating, so the idea was that them all gathering fucks that peace up.
It was going to be pretty silly, wanted an escape from grimdark fantasy.
>>
I feel that I haven't read enough to even consider writing.
>>
>>34685021
Oh I know our kinks and stuff. It's just weird writing porn that's basically about you and someone you know

>>34685170
Nice. I love spooky, comfy, and lewd. Any links?
>>
I wrote an ebook on how to stop hating urself.
I been THINKING about writing a book set in 870-970 ad set in Europe with alt history where slav and nordic tribes wrote their own holy books and organized their religions. I might write it one day but first I have to get on disability bux, get my own place and smoke ton of weed kel

Whoops, meant to quote this anon
>>
>>34684279
I actually laughed at this. Good job.
>>
Finished a rough draft of a novella last week. Slowly editing it now. I hate editing.
>>
>>34685719
Really? I love editing actually
>>
>>34685946
I don't like reading over my stuff. Makes me hate it.
>>
I anonymously send my writings to university professors

Currently I'm writing a cyberpunk anime weeb fantasy fulfilment cliche filled piece of garbage because I like it
It's got vaporwave drug addict ninjas, cyborg doggos and 4chan plays a major role in the plot
I regret nothing
>>
>>34685987
>not hating it as you write it and destroying your soul in the process
>>
I write short stories and essays. Because I have no life experiences to share I make music my muse. A lot of my stuff is inspired by music, or written about songs I hear. I just finished a pretty neat little reflection, family and brotherhood. It's a story about two brothers with an abusive father. I'd share it but it's long and I don't want anyone stealing it. It may not be good, but damnit, I'm proud of myself for once.

Felt good man.

Does anybody here intend to publish anything? Like, in book form, not just as a glorified blog post?

It's just, I find it amazing how hard it actually is to write well. In my life I've produced thousands of pages of fiction and it's all been shit. And I've read further tens of thousands of pages of fiction, and only now, after about 20 years of writing, am I gradually considering trying to publish. At least with regard to writing, I can definitely agree with the saying about needing 10,000 hours of practice to become good at something.

Or is it just me? Am I the only one to find this so hard?
>>
>>34686208
I've been published before.

> At least with regard to writing, I can definitely agree with the saying about needing 10,000 hours of practice to become good at something.
Fucking truth. As it is with anything, you gotta hone the SHIT outta your craft. Do 1-2k words a day. Read whenever you can.

Writing is hard as fuck dude. You've gotta give everything you've got: Intelligence, creativity, hard work, and you gotta compress that shit into ink and start putting it onto a blank piece of paper. Writing SHOULD hurt you. If it doesn't, you're not doing it right.
>>
>>34686134
Of course. Constantly flopping between love and hate. Just like my suicidal thoughts.
>>
I have a bunch of various fantasy ideas in my head that I need to turn into text. Also I write a lot of erotic roleplays and I've been meaning to turn some of the kinkier scenarios into stories - anyone got experience with that?
>>
>>34686293
In my experience, every shut in sperg has an elaborate, Tolkien-esque fantasy world they think people will be interested in reading. Pro tip: They won't.
>>
>>34686208
I highly suggest self publishing when the time comes. You get to hold onto your rights and you make a better profit. You could write the best novel ever, but if the genre isn't fashionable then publishing houses won't publish it. Unless you've already proven yourself a capable author.
>>
>>34686293
Erotica sells really well. Do it. Use a pen name if you have to.
>>
>>34686321
I'm not a big Tolkien fan and epic sagas bore me to be honest. I'm more after universal human problems than creating languages for my made-up races or some shit. No idea if I should combine that with erotica, though.
>>
>>34685110
>I think the reason I even started writing in the first place was because I thought it was a purely innate talent which required no effort.

Hahaha.
No. It's a ton of fucking work, and nobody ever appreciates it unless you become famous. Which you won't.

And because the bar to entry is very low, your work isn't as appreciated as other forms of art.

As a novelist who's written his first complete book recently and starting on another soon, writing is hell.
>>
>>34686379
do you mean on markets like Amazon? I heard it's relatively easy to publish there, and online is my only option.
>>
>>34686381
I'm just saying, man, challenge the paradigm.

>combine that with erotica, though.
Fucking do it. Make the next Corruption of Champions.
>>
>>34686263
Good to know it doesn't come easy for everybody else.

>>34686349
The language in which I write isn't spoken by enough people for any writing in it to be profitable ever. I mostly want to get published to stroke my ego, not to get money.
>>
Even though I like writing stories/essays myself, I sometimes have a weird problem of not being able to judge other books. Other than obvious gramatical/plot errors, it can be hard for me to say whether the book is well written. This could cause problems if I had to judge my own work.
>>
>>34686464
>Good to know it doesn't come easy for everybody else.

It absolutely doesn't. Try reading John Steinbeck's field journal if you get the chance. Now THAT'S some self hatred.
>>
>>34686415
Yeah go through online markets. Amazon is a great place to start.
>>
>>34686436
I haven't heard of CoC before but I'm playing it now for... research, thanks anon! For real though, interactive stories might be the way to go for me

Yes, I talked about it a few times before here. I will just blog a little bit and if you want to I will lose any kind of feedback.

My novel is called Diary 2116, its a hundred years romance sci-fi tale about a man that, as he ages, finds out how far he is willing to go to give his family and his loved ones a good place to live.

Ultimately his actions will affect our civilizations and others in the next centuries to come.

So the story starts in 2016 and goes all the way to 2116, and in this timeline we have the whole shanenigans, like world war, the birth of artificial super intelligence, colonization and terraformation, first contact, you know the usual.

I will name the chapters to you guys because I literally have nothing better to do.

Chapter 1
2016

Chapter 2
There won"t be one.

Chapter 3.
Lose Yourself to Dance.

Chapter 4
Lived

Chapter 5
50/50

Chapter 6
Nutricula

Chapter 7
Sun

Chapter 8
The Great Filter

Chapter 9
Forward.

Chapter 10
Ours!

Chapter 11
2116

Yeah Im trying to ge it published. I live in Brazil and several publishers were interested, but they wanted me to pay in order to publish the god damn thing, like 2000 - 3000 dollars, and I make 450 dollars a goddamn month.

Anyway its literally the only dream I have in my life and If I fail in publishing it pic related will happen. Sorry for the blog.
>>
>>34685367

I liked your idea anon but you gotta be careful to not make it confuse because not a lot of people know history
>>
>>34685363
>>34685389
I feel embarrassed to post it here in this thread with real writers, but someone has to supply clumsily written lewds that were originally requested by anons on /aco/ http://pastebin.com/vtmPXvqe

It's tough to read this stuff back. Pic related is who it's about btw
>>
Last month I wrote a really short story about a middle school girl cheering up her friend.
I want to write more light hearted stuff but I'm lazy.
