Can we have a comfy mental illness thread? Just a place for those of us who are damaged/broken/irreversibly odd or maybe even making progress to just hang out and talk.

Depression, anxiety, bipolar, avoidant, anger issues. I haven't taken meds in years
>what caused you to have them?
Mom had all the same problems listed above, dad worked long hours, I got bullied, I always in trouble.
>does it affect your ability to work/otherwise function?
For years it did, but I started working part-time a few months ago and right now I'm the happiest/most confident I've ever been.
>have you made any progress?
Yuge progress. I've been very happy lately. I haven't had a depressive episode since December and my anxiety is pretty much gone altogether, which in turn has made me a lot less angry.

is your family understanding/supportive or do you get neetbux or anything?
>>34681546
Don't get any money. Mother is very supportive, father is disappointed he has such a useless idiot for a son. He used to be supportive but i guess it went on for too long.

My dad think I'm bullshiting and don't want to see me again in his house.
My mom doesn't mind tho

>illnesses you have
Severe social anxiety (I think I'd rather die than have to leave my house ever again) bipolar
>what caused you to have them?
The anxiety I don't know. I've had it since I was very young. I hated going into restaurants and I had to drop out of school.
>does it affect your ability to work/otherwise function?
Well I can't go anywhere and i'm constantly nervous so it's hard to focus on anything.
>have you made any progress?

BPD
>what caused you to have them?
Constant criticism growing up. Every thought I have is immediately countered by another one telling me I'm pathetic for even having the first. Then another tells me to stop being such a whiny bitch and just have normal thoughts. Repeat ad infinitum.
>does it affect your ability to work/otherwise function?
Not really. I stay quiet at work. Get off work, grab a bottle at the store and see where the night takes me. I just drink a lot and drunkenly ramble about everything I read or learn about.
>have you made any progress?
Getting laid again. Started exercising. Reading some good books lately. Still sad an angry most of the day. I keep shit under wraps pretty well until I hurt myself or someone does something directly offensive, then I start yelling and possibly breaking shit in the worst situations.

Idk man
>does it affect your ability to work/otherwise function?
A fair amount. Among other things being kicked out of education 3 times has an impact.
>have you made any progress?
Only the kind of progress you'd expect from growing up.
Don't really feel like typing all the info out, just feel sad and would like to say hugs help a lot, I got hugged the other day in class after meeting someone and expressing genuine interest in space. I had completely forgotten what it was like to have a good first impression with someone. And I almost cried after the class because of how good that hug felt.
