I would have been at a friend's weekly party; at the time, I was working the night shift, T-W-T 6pm-6am alone in an underground bunker, waiting for a pager to go off, to let me know I had to fix something.

Friday nights I'd always stop by the same liquor store to pick something up before heading over to my friend's place.

Now that store is closed; the owner died in a gunfight with robbers, and the parties stopped years ago, as everyone from that scene moved on

With the weekly party, there were a few people who served as the ties that held everything together. After they split off (moving for work, getting married, etc) things just died down.

Eventually they just dwindled away, becoming less and less frequent, until they finally stopped.
