I talk to my kitty all day. He can recognize his name and simple commands, and talks with me too.

I thought this was normal though?

I do, but in meows. He meows back so I must be saying something intelligible to him

My only irl friend and I are obsessed with my cat. We begin and end our conversations by doing impressions of my cats distinct mewing and maoing noises. We talk about him constantly and sometimes just go back and forth meowing to each other like we're actually saying something.
