it's ok OP i'm trying to get into monster high because the designs of the girls are soo cute and i want to cosplay them eventually...the episodes are a bit hard to get through even though they're like 5 minutes but ive got some alcohol in the house.

It was originally a book before they ever made dolls or a show. At some point they decided the book wasn't good enough and marketed it as a show/dolls.

If you listen to the showrunners they aren't terribly happy about it either.

Basically the French broadcaster that picked it up said "this has to look like other children's shows, otherwise children won't like it" so they went with CGI, which is actually a lot more expensive and difficult from an animation perspective (the only benefit is that it's really hard to do a suit with polka dots on it by hand).
I'm glad they rewrote Adrien's character from the teaser thing though.

They're allegedly doing 2d specials in the future but apparently the future of the show is 100% tied up in how much merch children buy.

I still get a huge kick out of the show, just have to train myself to deal with the CGI
