I've recently broken up. How many months should I let pass before I kill myself, so that people can't state the breakup as the reason for my suicide?

Seriously. I've seen married men who got divorced and lost everything yet they didn't kill themselves. Hang in there so you can find another qt who will make you happy. It might not be exactly tomorrow but it'll happen if you wait. Better than dying alone.
