Is it true? That depends on what happens after the bad moments, life sucks and it's up to us to make it atleast bearable to live it. The happy moments are like rewards for surviving, problem is that life sometimes gives a little more to others, making us feel unnecesary.

I've always had a great deal of respect for the Christians even if, at times, it was a grudging one. And that is particularly the case for the Catholics and the other orthodox churches. For all of their flaws, they do possess a certain brilliance when it comes to the notion of vocation.

Simply put, not everyone is happiest living in the same way. There are some men and women who are happier without a sexual relationship. As strange as it was for there to be people who had no desire for sex or children, the Church made provisions for them. Religious orders were established, and men and women took their vows and became monks and nuns.

The problem arises when men and women who would not be happy living in a monastery or convent find themselves forced to live as cenobites regardless. They didn't forswear sex by voluntarily following God's call into the wilderness; they were driven there by a Nature who judged them and considered them unworthy to dwell any place else. The life of the chaste monk is little different than that of the wizard, save for the fact that the former lives according to his impulses and the latter forced to do so in defiance of them. One can't will himself a vocation, after all. That comes from Nature, Fate or, if you're a Christian, God.
If you have a need for sexual relationships, no amount of praying can magically transform you into someone who doesn't.

Never mistake the monastery for the wizard's lodge. Enter into the former, and you'll hear the grateful prayers of men who have been given license to live as they desire. Step into the latter, and the only sound that will greet your ears will be the weeping of those unfortunate things who will never be permitted to.
