Just go, OP, you won't make an ass out of yourself for being bad. You're expected to be bad. If they expected you to be good, they'd also be really good and want you to join a league instead of just an evening out.

If answer is yes, then go. If no, then consider it just a kind of an icebreaker you and your co-workers can orbit around in order to have a good night, some drinks and a friendly chat. Going bowling doesn't exactly mean you're going just to play, if you know what I mean.

If you suck a lot, expect some laughs. Don't be a bitch, don't get anxious. Admit from the start that you suck, not to them, but to yourself, and have a laugh too. If you're having fun then they won't be laughing at you, they'll be laughing WITH you.

Bowling is a pretty safe activity when you're shit at. Unless everyone knows what they're doing there's also quite a bit of luck involved.
