And that's why VPNs and tor exist.
>>
>not having your VPN start with your computer
shig
>>
Is there any reason or way they would find out if they didn't explicitly ask the isp or you weren't doing illegal things?
>>
Just think how many other people would be with the same ISP. They have so many users so you are just another insignificant customer that they don't care about unless you are doing illegal things.
>>
>>34559965
time warner cable (charter) sends out "quarantines" whenever the system detects ""off"" websites. its supposed to be triggered by cp, torrenting and stuff like that, but i dont really trust their system being accurate.

if you do get a quarantine, you have to call a special number in which theyre supposed to tell you why it was triggered.
>>
hahahaha i'm so fucked if my parents know what i've fapped to
>>
>>34560013
They sound like one of the worst along with Comcast since they literally are the same companies that produce shows and movies. Talk about a conflict of interest.
>>
>>34560150
I'd get kicked out and they'd never speak to me again in all likelihood.
>>
>>34559650

Not only that, if you're connected to your home router, they can see all the sites you've visited! It's great! No need to get the ISP involved.

ive thought about this. This kind of thing should be illegal, atleast if you attempt to spy on adults.

It won't lead them to the site even. They only see you are connected to a vpn

im not talking about connecting to a vpn, just using ssl for a website

they'd speak to me but i doubt my dad would ever look at me the same again. shit, if i was my son and i knew what i fapped to i wouldn't look at myself the same again

Ive heard about that but i havent gotten one. Ive been with for like a year and ive been torrenting so much shit without a vpn

>>
>>34560013
Is 4chan one of those off sites?
>>
>>34560556
just wait for freeleeches and download a ton of shit and seed it forever

dont get a seedbox. seedboxes are for ratio hoarding faggots and they are ruining private sites.
>>
>>34560582
nah, i dont think so. then again, a lot of people would call in with quarantines swearing that they dont use their internet for anything but facebook and netflix, so i would imagine their system is somehow retarded and not very efficient.

honestly, it wouldnt surprise me that much if 4chan triggered the system, but i wouldnt worry about it.
>>
>>34560603
Not that anon but what's a freeleech and why do seedboxes ruin private sites?
>>
>>34560359
They can look at the network history and see all traffic.Vpn won't necessarily help because it will change the ip but they could easily narrow it down. Use an encrypted browser like puffin, and a VPN to be safe.
>>
>>34560645
Why wouldn't a VPN help and how could they narrow it down?
>>
>>34560603
Nah I think my problem is with configuration because Ive tried to seed popular stuff and I virtually can't ever seed anything at all. Now I don't even use my pt because of it
>>
Here's the setup I used to use to stay anonymoose when I wasn't using Tails/Tor combo:
>VPN>Socks5Proxy>Firefox>DuckDuckGo

Rate?
>>
so if fedz show up, can't you just deny it was you and just say you had your router password turned off? i always delete cookies and cache
>>
>>34560669
Because if they're looking at the network history, it shows all the sites that have been connected to, and what ip was connected to that site. If you use a VPN it will change your ip, but they can compare it to the list of devices connected to the network, and other simple sleuthing measure to easily find out who it is. If you use an encrypted browser though it won't show what sites you've been on or anything.

>>
>>34560630
freeleeches means everything on the site is free to download and it won't count against your download stats, uploading does count though. on private torrent sites you need to maintain a ratio for your account of how much you download/upload. uploading more than you download=good.

using a seedbox is kind of like using cheat codes in a game. you pay for a a remote server with crazy internet speeds and you upload/download everything off that. it's good for people who have absolute shit dial up tier connections, but the problem is every jack ass in the world is using them now just to buffer the shit out of their upload stats because they want e-peen points. it ruins the seed pools and people with normal connections can't maintain ratios, so they then have to play this stupid fucking game of buying seedboxes.

it's dumb and it didn't used to be like this. i really dont want to get into this too much because it makes me mad
>>
>>34560307
I have access to my own router and can't find these logs though
>>
>>34560739
How long does this history stay for? Is there anyway to delete it?

Seriously though, who's going to go through all this trouble just to look at what you guys are fapping to?

Who actually cares?

Ever since I've heard of this, I've tried to look for them too.

I failed to find them.

I know there's a way to see current open connections, but other than that, I have no clue what these people are talking about.

Oh well, ignorance is bliss.
>>
>>34560739
>it shows all the sites that have been connected to
How?
The router only sees that you're connecting to VPN. The VPN isn't being done by router it's being done on your computer.
>>
>>34560770
>seed pools
Is there only a set amount of "seeding" to go around?
>>
>>34560808
Don't ask me, I just know that I've personally tested several vpns and you can still what sites are being accessed. With an encrypted browser however it does hide everything.
>>
>>34560770
I'm admittedly not super into torrenting, really just use it for anime and occasionally a game here and there, but is there ever a reason to use those private trackers?

Everything I've ever been interested in can be found on open sites. In fact, I don't even know of any private trackers.

Though, like I said, can't really say I tried too hard.

Just don't commit cyber-crimes.
I know it's tempting but really they're going to find out one way or another, crap OPSEC or not.
>>
>>34560826
Yes. You only get upload when someone downloads. If someone uses a seedbox with a gigabit connection, they'll be able to seed a lot more when someone leeches.
>>
>>34559650

>tfw literally wouldn't give two shits if my friends or family found out what I fap to

I know they all have porn tastes equally as degenerate as mine, if not worse

They'd be hypocrites to judge me
>>
>>34560826
Seeding is done by people who want to share to other leechers. The probables begins when everyone wants to leech but no one wants to seed.
>>
>>34560826
no, it's more like this

say 50 people are seeding a torrent, 45 of them are using regular home connections that can upload like idk, anywhere from 30kB/s-200kB/s. someone can easily max out their download speed if they can connect to these people.

the other 5 guys in the seed pool are using seedboxes with upload speeds 10x faster than anyone else in the pool and everyone who downloads is maxing their connection out mostly with these 5 guys.

seedboxes are good for downloaders, that's without doubt, but in a ratio based torrent site where you need to maintain download and upload stats, it's just fucking everyone out of ratio.
>>
>>34560892
>>34560921
Lame, seems like a failure of system if too much seeding throughput is a negative.

Is there any point in trying to get into private trackers now?
I'm not interested in usual stuff like games and movies, and I have no idea how to get into the few I'd be interested in.
>>
>>34560907
Right, but you get the inverse problem with private trackers that demand a ratio.

A single user can't keep up with a seedbox.

Then you get locked out from downloading because you have shit ratios, even though you've been seeding for the past week straight.
>>
>>34560307
>implying my tech-illiterate family even knows what the internet box doohickey is
>>
>>34560936
Most trackers these days use a bonus point system that awards you just for being a seeder, so you can buy upload that way. It works if you have a lot of torrents seeding, but not a lot of upload going on.

I'm not the original torrent anon, but I've been playing the private tracker game for about a year now. PTP is the hardest one for me to maintain (now that what.cd is gone), since movies are often quite large and seeding is low. There's a lot of individual freeleech torrents though, which you can download for bonus points.

BTN is my favorite. One of the best and biggest private trackers for TV shows, and it's ratioless.
>>
>>34560936
yes they are still worth getting into, i've never had much of a problem with any tv or movie tracker.

most of the problems for me is on music trackers. i've been using music trackers since oink and now they are just all filled with fucking seedbox hoarding cunts fucking everyone in the ass
>>
>using university wifi to watch beastiality
>>
>>34560973
How did you initially get into them?
>>
>>34561006
not him, but my first private site was oink and i just got some good stats and got into the forum where other private sites give out invites, and i just branched off from there.

i got into oink by knowing someone. if you're into music PTH and apollo have an interview system set up, but you need to know how ripping music works, what transcodes are, flac, v0, how ratio works, etc. it's not difficult to understand but if you don't know it you aren't going to pass it.
>>
>>34561006
I met this hardcore private tracker dude on an IRC channel I hang out with, a completely unrelated channel. He seemed to take a real liking to me and eventually sent me an invite to both BTN and PTP.
Basically I got really lucky.

My first ever private tracker was Animebytes, where I got invited through the early day AB threads on /a/. If you're a power user on AB you can use it as a springboard to get invited to other trackers, though. Power User forums often have recruitment threads. I got into Ultimate Gamer Club and GazelleGames through those forums.
>>
>>34560850
well i download a decent amount of stuff and i'd rather not deal with the cluster fuck of open sites and all the security crap with that, so for me it's worth the aggravation, it's not too difficult once you get used to how these sites work.

if you don't download that much stuff then they aren't really worth it. the music sites are definitely worth trying to get into if you're into music because they have tons and tons of stuff in all different types of quality
>>
>>34561106
Y'know, I'll agree on music.

Finding music without access to torrents can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. Especially finding it in any decent quality or any format other than mp3.

I guess I'm just not the targeted demographic. I don't watch anything other than anime and I really prefer to purchase games.

I suppose if I were looking for movies or tv shows they might be more useful.
>>
>>34561171
they have anime specific trackers too. i dont watch anime but from what i understand animebiyes is the big one to get into.
>>
>>34561192
Not him but anime sites aren't the most important ones.

You have Nyaa which will have everything current, and some older content. You also have sub release sites that tend to seed their own torrents for older shit. There's BakaBT that you can cheat your way into, and as an extreme emergency you'll be able to find most shows on XDCC.

Obviously Animebytes is much easier, though.

Oh shit it's not a meme they know. Time to shoot myself.
>>
>>34561192
Pretty much what >>34561208 said.

I'd wager that most people who watch current subbed shows are getting it from horriblesubs, who release everything on Nyaa.

Most fansubs put everything on Nyaa as well.

I've never needed to use any other site, but then again, I'm not too into older stuff. Nyaa is a bit lacking in that.

So right now I'm staying a few months at a hotel. They got my own router in my room for me though. How can you go about looking at what others on your network veiw without legit hacking stuff? I remember when I lived at home I couldn't see what my brother and mom were looking at. I tried.
