WW3 wouldn't be like previous wars. In previous wars, the military was composed of men and so men were most of the ones getting killed. WW3 would not involve large armies meeting on battlefields. It would involve entire cities being annihilated with nuclear missiles, and probably mass starvation afterwards. That hits everyone, not just military men.
