I readed almost all of his work, he indeed was a robot for.his time.
The only diference with a lot of autist here was that he had one notable talent and capitalized on it, he worked with the author of american splendor harvey h pekar. Another robot tier author of american underground comics.

Robert Crumb hates me...lemme tell you why.

I and a friend went to some gallery showing in New York city, and we noticed a camera crew setting up. The lady in charge of them mentioned that they were filming a documentary about him,and we all waited patiently for Da Man to show up. I had long hair at the time,and since it was winter I was wearing a black leather jacket. He showed up and passed by me in the entranceway. I smiled warmly at him,but he just rolled his eyes at me in scorn,spat out a "Tuh!",and scurried past me. This pissed me off,and I pointedly ignored him while he did his thing at the showing. He was doing his piggyback riding thing with some woman when the camera turned to me."Would you like to ask him anything?" ,the lady interviewer asked me."Wouldn't dream of it,"I replied.

"Never disturb a genius in mid hump!"

Later,I was making my way to leave,and the interviewer runs up to me wanting me to sign a release form so she could use my quote in the film. I refused,smiling nastily at Crumb and told them to chop it out. That's why that segment in the film ends abruptly with his piggyback ride.

Years later he ran into me randomly in NYC around St Marks place,and began cursing me out. Had no idea who he was or what I did wrong,but I laughed and said if they ever do a Criterion version they can put it back in and I won't object. I wonder if it ever happened.
