Why are our state names such shit? Apart from Victoria and Tasmania. Americans have cool ones like California, and Washington, and Arizona, etc. Such cool names.

Coolest state name is clearly ALASKA
ALASKA is a good state. It has oil, and bears. And various cold things.

Eastern half are colonies. Western half are territories claimed but not settled until mich later.

The names make more sense historically.
Queensland is literally "the queens land"
Victoria was Queen at the time
NSW reminded the settlers if Wales fir some reason.
Tas was originally named after a Dutch governor. Name was later changed to Tasmania after the captain that discovered it.
