Point still stands.
>will be 24 this year and have never held a job longer than a month
>Left retail 4 years ago for a shitty office job
>Got an interview lined up for a "big boy" job that pays enough money to live comfortably on
>Gonna make it
Keep your chin up guys.
Don't be afraid to apply for jobs you think you might not get either, that's how you escape retail hell.
>mfw all the people on r9k who go on about the wage slave shit are 16-19 and haven't left home yet
enjoy the homeless life boys while i make more than both your parents combined doing work that requires minimal effort
>>34492293
>get it together
>can't actually get it together alone
>always be dependent on employer or random services if you wanna be self-employed
>you need to get a pass for that too
>thinks you can just get it together
>just like that
>>34492293
What else should I be doing? It's easy and pays the bills.
Plus I get some sweet benefits like paid vacations. All for putting shit on a shelf and helping old women reach things.
>>34493477
Sounds like my job easy factory entry level job. Been doing it for 15 years, earn over 100k a year (Aus dollars) but wife hates my job and is constantly telling me to get a job where I will use my brain
>>34493619

>>34492293
Why? I make 60k a year mostly hanging out with my friends, facing shelves and stocking some goods.
Our latest manager is a cunt though, but he'll be gone in a year.
>>34493967

>>34495028
centrelink forced me into 'work for the dole' to continue my newstart allowance. So I just ended up getting a proper job instead and quit being a NEET.
>Work retail
>This is barely enough to live on my own with
>People double and maybe even triple my age are also working here
How do they survive??
>tfw you're not even respected unless you're working 2 jobs
>actually need 2 jobs to survive as a single person with no kids
things should not be this way.
>>34495223
They probably make a little more.
>>34495223
>How do they survive??
They have a significant other who pays half the rent / bills
>>34495295
>They have a significant other who pays half the rent / bills
You really need to factor this in.
It's also a real disadvantage for robots looking to buy a home rather than rent one day.
Everyone else has an SO to double their deposit and help with monthly payments.
>>34495370
>tfw working low paid office job and all coworkers have a S/O so can afford to buy a house easily.
It's pretty depressing man
>>34495391
It sucks but we can have some small advantage through frugality.
They also have kids, multiple cars usually and all the social crap that eats money.
We can save a lot easier than they can.
We'll make it one day, it'll just take us longer.
>>34495461
Maybe, maybe, but in terms of rent alone (or a down-payment on a house) - that's hard to deal with as a single guy unless you're in a really financially comfortable position (which I'm not, I'm basically living paycheck to paycheck despite being cautious with money)
>>34495546
My problem actually isn't the deposit, it's getting the income to allow be granted a mortgage for the rest.
I'm living with my parents right now so I can save very easily.
The problem is I need one of those shiny "real" jobs so that the bank won't laugh at me when I ask for a mortgage.
>>34492293
>he isn't working a comfy retail management job earning 60k a year to boss around normie failures
>>34495594
Oh I see - here it's largely based on credit. So if you spend a year or two paying for everything on a credit card (and then paying it off straight away of course) you build enough credit score for the bank to take you seriously.
Another reason I'm not jumping into buying a house is that I don't particularly want to settle down in the area of the country I'm currently living, so I'm thinking just to stick with this job for 2-3 years longer and then look for a better paying job (since I'll have a little experience) elsewhere, somewhere I'd be happy to attempt to buy a house.
It's a long process though and I'm already in my mid 20's. a lot of people my age are a lot further in life than I am and I often feel like I'm stagnating.
>>34493423
I felt bad you tried so hard and no one replied, so here's a (you)
>>34492293
