As for actually building the place, it's not hard to build small structures. We can easily follow plans on the internet. If it's under a certain size you don't need a building permit. And if that proves too much, we can buy sheds and convert them into dwellings instead.

As a martial artist of 15 years I can offer a little insight into some of the physical aspects you will need to train for self Defense, and also some pitfalls to avoid.

I'd suggest for weapon combat you study HEMA and or Ninjitsu and Kendo to cover the bases of weapon fighting. You have to learn how to do multiple things well. Basic arming sword techniques, sheild techniques, polearm techniques ect.


For hand to hand combat Boxing will give you a good base to start from, and then from there you can take up a more fleshed out martial art like Karate. It's important to cover the bases before beginning advanced training thats why boxing is a good start.

It's also important to learn survival skills like how to identify plants and animals in nature that can be eaten and how to grow food to help in becoming self sufficient.


If you want to be a warrior lifting is fine but dont overdo it. Having a lot of bulky muscle doesnt translate well to being a good fighter because you will tire quickly and it will strain your heart.

Have a balanced diet, preferably more endurance foods than anything else but that is just my personal preference.


Some things to avoid are martial arts that propose nonsense like "no touch ko's" or claim to have hidden techniques. Also avoid schools that can claim to expedeitntley make you a black belt quickly because becoming a powerful warrior takes quite some time id say about 10 years.
