Ha, funny you should mention that, attempted a fast.com run on both default and VPN routing to confirm.

Since the upstream VPS provider got changed a few weeks ago I now actually only get 16MB/s down, decreased from ~30-35 from the old provider (but their DC regularly dropped out).

Though from what I remember from CCNA, the maximum throughput is limited to the slowest upstream link (could probably be wrong on that), in this case the VPS data center.
