You really do. There's expensive ones and cheap ones - I'm sure the cheap ones are just as good. You just want something you can lube up (the more the better) and stick up there where it can gently bump against your prostate. I've only ever used an Aneros Helix. But I think now that Aneros is probably a meme. Their stuff seems very expensive for what's basically just a plastic knob.
