If you're going to try hallucinogens, it is better to start with salvia. I haven't used the others, but I've used salvia. It won't get you in trouble or show up on a drug test like LSD or psilocybin. Just smoke a tiny pinch sprinkled on top of tobacco. I've read that the effect is quite harsh compared to the others, but it's not bad. People tend to comically overdose on the stuff because of its potency. This is quite unpleasant but not dangerous.

I say start with salvia because, whatever happens, it'll be over in half an hour at most. So, if you find out that hallucinogenics are not a good idea for you, you won't have to suffer for hours like with the others.

Shrooms are excellent, they completely rid me of anxiety for their duration. I have never felt so open and inclined to talk or share my thoughts. It also really made me want to try acid, which is apparently in the same vein, but jesus christ shrooms are hard to come by. I barely know the difference between multiple weed strains, I am completely unconvinced that there's that big a difference between various cubensis strains. Nobody needs to take shrooms so often that they're picking up on the subtleties like that.

If I'm wrong, I've caused someone 15 minutes of distress, with no chance of legal or employer repercussions since it's legal and is undetectable in drug tests after a couple of hours much like alcohol. If anybody follows my instructions vs. smoking a whole bowl like the other anon said about his bad trip, then a traumatic experience for them is extremely unlikely. HPPD may actually be an anxiety disorder rather than some kind of permanent visual affliction. There's a relevant medical journal from 2016 that talks about the possibility but I don't know the title offhand. In other words, if you conquer the source of the anxiety, then so too do you conquer the affliction.

From personal experience I think there may be truth to this idea, yet I don't think the idea is perfect. When I first started with psychedelics, I had HPPD-style flashbacks in the days or weeks following use. At that phase I'd been afraid of psychedelics thanks to all the stuff I'd been told growing up about them and the anxiety followed me throughout my everyday life. I quit them for a while to reevaluate my reasons for using them and to figure out what had me so anxious about them. I had no such flashbacks upon continuing use, which I feel I owe to becoming educated enough about psychedelics to know the risks.

The reason I said the hypothesis isn't perfect is because I still get weird psychedelic style visuals every now and then when waking. They quickly disappear after a few seconds and I continue on with my day as if nothing had happened.
