Apple is great at both design and manufacturing, and still mostly great at software.

The iPhone is not a technological miracle any more, but fuck me if it's not better executed than any Android phone on the market.

MacBooks are actually pretty impressive. Screw your gaming laptop, my Air gets 10+ hours of battery life while coding.

iOS is generally better than Android for phones, and so much better than Android for tablets it's not even funny.

macOS is the only usable Unix in existence. Unless you like fucking around with i3 all day, I guess.

We saw a big change in the culture after Reagan so hopefully there will be a similar shift in the culture with Trump in the office. I wouldn't be too optimistic because the little hissy fit the left is throwing is probably going to draw in more crowds. They played up the victim and counter-culture image when they were the dominant culture, now they've had almost an entire week of actual oppression so who knows what could happen.

It's probably beyond saving, but I try to live well and have found a handful of others who hold similar values. Solitary hobbies like reading and alcohol bring me a lot of joy. A boring routine can be surprisingly comfy. What better reason to do something than because it's what you do?

That's not really the issue though. The main thing is that Reagan was different from his predecessors, and Trump is very different from the long line of Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas. With a drastic change in leadership it's not beyond the realm of possibility for the culture in that society to change as a result.
