My mom passed away when I was teenager, so I completely understand the pain you're experiencing. I'll be honest with you, when she actually dies it will be more painful than you can imagine.

The uniqueness of your situation OP is that you have time to come to peace as much as you can with your mothers death. You have a head start in trying to begin your grieving process that myself and many other people didn't have the luxury for. It's going to fucking suck, and the rest of your life will never be the same if you're close to your mother.

Enjoy the little time she has left, and please cherish the time she has left forever. Things will be awful for a while, but things will get better. Steel your heart, and resolve within yourself the accomplishments you want to have to make your mother proud.

That's good because I was coming to regret the fact that I was claiming to regret my post.

Hang in there OP and cherish every moment you get left with her. Make sure to take lots of pictures and videos. Even if you have to lie try to let her die knowing you were getting your grades back up in school, she shouldn't have to die wondering what will happen to you.
That's about all I can say to help I think.

My mother actually just died about 3 months ago now, it was very, very sudden. She'll never see me graduate from college nor see my sister graduate from high school, never know if I get a job or not, never put her Master's degree that she just got to use.
Judging by what you said, you'll probably be like me and focus more on what she's missing out on in life than you are when it happens, but try to not let it bother you too much. There's little point in wallowing in misery for the dead.

If there really is one thing that I regret now it's that I don't have any videos of her and don't have anything with her voice on it. Memories fade fast though it might not be the same with you if you have a whole year to really commit her to your memory.
