Stop using gaming headsets
>friend gave me a really nice plantronics PC gaymen headset
>don't play any games that warrant using it
They are absolutely overpriced trash. You're better off getting some nice headphones and a mic separately.

I did this and fucking with the external mic is a huge hassle. At least I don't get headaches from wearing my headset anymore.

The ones on the left aren't for gaming.

Got a blue yetti from some creepy ass dude without a shit on who was a "massage therapist" off craigslist for $50.
Can't complain.
If you want efficiency and quality go for external mic and 150+ $ headset
I bought the hyper x gaming one for ~$70 and it was insanely comfy and good quality.
I have the sennheiser 598c now though, got it for $99 and am very satisfied.
Unfortunately, I have to disagree.
My HyperX headset has lasted me 1.5+ years, has great sound, bass and works like the day I bought it.
Most headsets of mine break quickly.
I have speakers and I don't like headphones. What do I need a mic for? The only online multiplayer game I play is 100% oj.
Headsets are just convenient. I played with a yeti on my desk for a little while, but having a big mic and pop filter in front of your face got annoying fast. I have a g933 now. Sounds fine with some settings adjusted, and wirelessness is amazing.
Get an external mic and a good, like over $300 good, pair of headphones. A headset is just subpar versions of both in one piece of hardware.
