A mixture of looking at market data, upcoming events etc., and monitoring my positions and trades.
>How are financial derivatives different than standard mathematical derivatives?
They're completely different. Financial derivatives have nothing to do with mathematical differentiation - a financial derivative is an instrument whose value is derived from an underlying stock (e.g futures, CFDs, options)

US, it's a relatively well known company.
How hard was to get into it? I'm gonna graduate in applied maths and that's probably a possible path I could take. I'm in Europe though.
Are you concerned about your future? Trading is becoming more difficult to make a buck on. Are you into, or looking at, HFT?

Your probability of success is determined by...
-How good your degree is (what uni, what grade)
-How many internships you did
-How many firms you apply to
-How good your resume is/how you've demonstrated your interest in trading
-How good you are at interview questions (check out glassdoor interview questions beforehand)
By the time I was in my final year of college I was spamming applications, from big banks to prop trading firms, hedge funds and smaller prop shops. Got accepted by about 40%, picked the one I liked most.
