I'll start with an obvious one

>turbo autist
>shut-in who played guitar
>failed music career
>killed himself at 26
>died a virgin
>becomes known worldwide after he dies
>>
Kurt Cobain
I think everyone knows the story
>inb4 not a robot because he had a gf
>>
>Caring about the musician and not the music
What are you, gay?
>>
Nick Drake....Duh
>>
>>34323753
If I can relate to a musician a lot, I will often enjoy their music more.

I mean, it is way more likely that robots will enjoy music made by other robots compared to music made by normies
>>
>>34323783
My favorite music is usually made by cyborgs.
>>
>>34323194

too bad he makes boring music
>>
>>34323783
>it is way more likely that robots will enjoy music made by other robots compared to music made by normies
This. I'll listen to Ian Curtis's suicidal lyrics in Joy Division than The Chainsmokers' normie bullshit any day.
>>
>>34323194
Jamie Stewart qualifies as a cyborg at least. He's pretty messed up.
Nick is, unfortunately, the only true robot artist I can think of

I love Jamie.

There are some musicians I can think of that are robots (or at least come painfully close) like Jackson C. Frank or Elliott Smith. If you like Nick Drake, both of them are right up your alley.
>>
>>34324372
>tfw saw him at Pitchfork last year
He looked so out of it. It was great to see him in concert, but holy fuck I wanted to cry. The man is like an empty shell. He didn't deserve the things he's been put through.
>>
>>34323194
Hard to have a thread when you start with the climax, Nick Drake was the robotest of robots. Jackson C. Frank was up there though

Townes van Zandt was an outsider but not a robot. Genius either way

Richey James Edwards.

>Awkard and shy as fuck
>Couldn't sing
>Barely played the guitar
>Greatest song writer ever (clever and poetic lyrics)
>Was a kisseless virgin until 21 or 22 when a thot took advantage on him
>Disappeared and has never been seen

Fuck, I still have the hope that he's alive somehere.
>>
is aphex twin one?

Xiu Xiu will always be close to my heart.
I already know and enjoy Elliot Smith, and I think I've seen Jackson C. Frank mentioned in a /mu/ thread. Thanks, I'll check him out.
>>
>>34324867
Well, I was giving Pink Moon a spin and decided to make the thread in hopes that I'd find other brilliant music made by fuck-ups.

>>34324972
I'd like believe the alleged sightings in India are true.

This song is a real tear-jerker. This and Milk and Honey are great songs to get you into him.
>>
>>34325157
Thanks, I'm listening to his s/t album so I'll get to that eventually. I'm enjoying him, very melancholy
>>
>>34324972
I never got around to listening to Manic Street Preachers. I'll go listen to The Holy Bible.

>>34325064
Yup, "Across the Sea" could practically be /r9k/'s anthem.

>>34323656
He definitely was a robot when he was a teenager at least.

>>34324985
I'd consider him, if anything, a cyborg at most.
>>
HATE MYSELF MORE THAN YOU EVER COULD
>>
>>34324787
What REALLY happened to him? I can never find the answer and no one ever tells me.
>>
>>34325701
>"No Love" is about fucking Staceys with no cares in the world
>still a robot

Eh, i'd consider him a cyborg at most.
(pun intended, if you're wondering)

I do agree that Death Grips is pretty robot music, tho. especially On GP.
>>
>>34323656
>>inb4 not a robot because he had a gf
He had multiple gf's throughout his life he's not even close to a robot
>>
>wrote music only for himself, not for other people or even the rest of his band
>top-tier social outcast
>hated anyone who didn't understand him
>lethargic, unenthusiastic, boring, but incredibly smart and cynical
Check out this interview; the spaghetti is being shot out of his pockets like a gun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t92FpC-7Zt0

Some of these were/are pretty obscure and unsuccessful.

Okay, now this is going too far. Malkmus is in no way a robot
>>
>>34323194

>>
>>34326224
he supports Trump too lel
>>
>>34326126
Yeah, honestly I think he's more of a cyborg. Definitely not full-on normie, but when compared to musicians like Nick Drake, it's hard to say he's a robot.
>>
>>34323194

Separate the art from the artist man.
>>
>>34325064
This is a weird one because he's definitely a robot but he has tried super hard to make normie music in the past 15 years
>>
>>34325818
>grew up in an abusive family
>deaf in one ear from his father hitting him
>couldn't handle stress from touring
>took off a tour to write Pet Sounds
>people around him were skeptical
>Pet Sounds flopped when it was originally released
>did lots of drugs
>had an acid trip so bad he started hearing voices in his head
>became a recluse
>spent 3 years in bed doing cocaine and eating chocolate
>"rescued" by a doctor (Gene Landy) who took advantage of him and abused him
>Landy became his legal guardian
>became Landy's prisoner for over 10 years
>still hears voices to this day
>went from one of music's greatest geniuses to the mentality of a 6th grader

Do it, m8. Manics is not the kind of band that you love at first "sight". They aren't "experimental" like Radiohead or others, but they are so fucking sincere.

>>34323194
He didn't fail.. Pink Moon was amazing. If he had stayed alive he would've been good.
He had too many vices though, and it ended up being too much. He smoked so much pot, other drugs.. Probably didn't sleep much.
All of these things got in the way of him growing as a well rounded person. Very sad. As I said, Pink Moon was amazing.
>>
>>34328039
Yup, I listened to the album right after I posted. It lyrically definitely kept me engaged, but I honestly found it musically underwhelming also. I'll give it another listen for sure.

He was more in between cyborg and robot. He hated normies and everything they did but he also had a gf and a wife.
>>
>>34328101
>He didn't fail
He did, though. I adore his music but when it came to finding fame in his lifetime, he failed. He was a very asocial person with many insecurities (along with many vices) and that fucked him over. His reluctance to be interviewed or to perform live is what prevented him from breaking out. He was also very socially awkward. Pic related, French singer/songwriter Francoise Hardy, came onto him and begged him to write songs for her. Joe Boyd, Nick's mentor, even arranged a meeting between them. At the meeting, Drake sat quietly and avoided eye contact. Boy described it as "being painful to watch."

Nick was doomed his whole life. That's why he's the quintessential robot musician.

Read the biography on him by Patrick Humphries. It's very interesting.
>>
>>34328608
I guess what I meant to say was that he never broke through the bad habits. He was definitely good enough a musician and songwriter, but just that he needed to live a little more in a healthier way. He failed because of drugs etc. He could have gotten past it.
>>
Also I forgot the guy from Joy Division
That was a roboterino if I ever saw one
