My dad was telling me that when Reagan was elected, it was fairly contentious.

Two people could completely relate to each other on everything on politics but then its still a no go. I thought it was a bit too early for people to protest but they are potentially a lot of valid concerns. Personally I'm somewhat worried about the new administrations stance toward science since it impedes a lot of good all around societal progress and probably more importantly undermines military weapon/equipment developments and capability which could stunt advancements that could be deciding factors in the long term as even a relatively small technology advancement could have a very large impact especially when many different militaries are moving away from large conventional forces against other large organized conventional forces.
