How much do you guys usually spend in a month? I feel like I should pare it down a bit.
>>
probably $200 - 300
>>
>>34302160
>2000 dollars in a month
holy fuck
>>
>>34302755
Yeah this month has been bad, usually I spend closer to $1500.

That's like 2/3 of my income, holy shit.

I think I'm around $1500 too -- I don't pay attention.

Prostitutes. One was $140, one $120. Usually try to limit myself to once a month. I should really cut the habit altogether but horniness is a difficult urge to control.
>>
Depends, but probably around $1,500 on my credit card per month. I've seen that vary by about $500 in either direction. An additional $2,000 per month for rent.
>>
>>34302160
this is an extremely normie budget.

Live in a studio. Worth it though to live in what I consider the best city in the country.

Which city is it
>>
>>34303125
San Francisco. Only reason I didn't say is that I'm sure a lot of people would hate to live here. The only point is that it's a matter of taste. Personally I like it a lot.
>>

Yeah, I'd probably be willing to pay around that if I could live in a cool location. I hate the suburbs.

I live in a rat infested shit hole and only eat ramen and raw potatoes, but hey, I save 95% of my income.

Unless you're earning poverty tier wages that's not really that unreasonable.

What a tremendous waste of money, I bet you hate your younger self for being such a dipshit to start smoking.
>>
>>34304826
I'm curious about this too. Maybe saving a ton so you can retire at 55 and live another 30 years doing nothing?
>>
>>34302160
i make about $8k/mo, out of that $1.5k/mo goes into retirement, then $1.5k/mo (roughly) into compulsory withholding. i spend about $2k paying bills/necessities, and the rest i buy bonds or shares or entertainment. it works out that i have $15k+ consistently that grows a few hundred every month regardless of what i do, often it adds another $1-2k with just dividends or rental property income.
>>
>>34304899
What kind of compulsory withholding are we talking about here?

I've heard that about SF

cool. i make between $4-5k from rental properties, about $12-13k a year from a mature bond (ladder buying), and average 1099 returns are $3-5k. i mostly invest in metals. mercury has been good to me this year; and no, you don't need 400k to make 50k/yr. more like 150k/yr and you should have a reasonably diversified portfolio as well as alternates in holding companies, currency markets, or large cap stocks that you never touch.

day trader make cash based on speculation, hype, and research. for that you also don't need much cash, but it's not really much of an income unless you're constantly trading.
>>

>>

Single room in a multiple room apartment or a house probably.
>>
>>34305190
most of the people i know with comp sci degrees are middle class $55k/yr dudes with a future in admin or management if they take up those courses.

computer scientists i work with, and physicists, physical chemists, et c are about my pay grade or a bit higher. management doesn't pay awesomely, really, but comfortably. i think my sector's VP is under half a million a year.

programmers largely are contracted out for beans since garbage code from india is worthless, so we'd rather pay a solid english speaker that follower good coding practices $50k to write some specific stuff. unless you're keen on learning Step 7, SuSE, SIL, Solidworks/COSMOS, and writing custom x86_64 code for simulations; the rest is COTS and not worth hiring for. you also would need a security clearance for some jobs.

best earning guy i know is either our legal team or the ATC guy at the local airfield.

Have no idea how you guys spend so much on food. Do you eat outside? In fucking fast foods every day?
100 GBP a month is plenty, what are you guys eating?
>>
>>34305429
every weekday I spend $6-8 on lunch. chickfila, subway, bbq sandwich
I might end up buying overpriced starbucks latte because thats the closest coffee place
For dinner I might eat like half a can of chilli + 1 slice of mild cheddar. I might eat a prepackaged salads (they cost $3, so expensive), or kiolbassa sausage
>>
>>34305347
Thanks for the link senpai
i'll get on it
>>
>>34305351
>Rent is $1200
where in the fuck do you live?
>>
>>34305429
i spend about $200 in food each month. salmon, steak, sausage, vegetables. maybe some canned stuff here or there, pickles, preserves, bread, rice, et c. lasts the month just cooking for a few days on that budget as well as another $100 if you eat out once in a while.

cheap food tends to be shitty outside of some narrow choices.

example: 2 cups white rice, 1 can crushed tomatoes, some cilantro, lime, some tri-tips, pappy's seasoning, carcoal/grilling stuff, and about 20 minutes is dinner. eggs over a diced potato with crumbled bacon for breakfast and a side of medium pulp OJ, lunch i ate out at a local soup/sandwich/coffee place and it was $12. that's perhaps $16 spent that one day on food. multiply for 20 days (accounting that some days you don't eat out or skip a meal).

Learn to cook yourself, it's cheaper. I eat rice and chicken breasts most of the time.
1kg rice + 1kg chicken breast is like 4GBP, you can prepare meals for 3 days with it.

I know how to cook
But it takes so much time
If 'cooking' took 0 seconds, you would still have 30 minute overhead everyday due to shopping cleaning etc
Also I eat lunch at work and I cant be bothered to cook my lunch and then pack it.
>>
>>34305708
>But it takes so much time
20-30 minutes for a decent sized dinner is too much time? are you just impatient?

clean up is washing a plate and your spoon/fork/knife after eating - about 5 minutes a day. grocery shopping is usually like 45 minutes out of an entire month.
>>
>>34305736
>grocery shopping is usually like 45 minutes out of an entire month.
maybe if you're a vegetarian or if you live right next door to a grocery store.
>>
>>34305828
no, i eat a fairly normal diet, and i live about a half mile from a grocery store. 5-10 minute drive, pick up everything i need to make my meals for the month plus a hot meal for the day, then back home and unpack and shitpost or whatever. not even an hour. do you not plan meals out ahead of time?
>>
>>34305669
Do you plan on being a neet forever?
inb4 unoriginal
>>
>>34305915
i don't freeze my meat and i don't like to keep cooked meat for longer than a week so i go every week to get a couple chicken breasts or ground turkey. the drive to and from the store plus walking around through the store easily adds up to a minimum of 30min per trip.
>>
>>34305987
same, although i have to flash freeze meat since i hunt now and then, and fish is best made either fresh or flash frozen. sounds like you voluntarily avoid frozen food and sacrifice time each week to shop whereas i don't mind it and save the extra hour or so a month.
>>
>>34305669
I put pasta in the pot and boil water and put sauce on top of it and takes about 13 min
