these where the peaks of star wars, the old "original trilogy" is alright. Phantom is alright, the others are trash and force awakens is just a new hope fed through the lens of fanfiction

I reckon it gained some popularity because at the time of release there wasn't too much like it, it had the big space ships and shit like star trek but with classic action scenes, cheesy romance story, cool sfx and a twist ending.

Then for some reason it became cooler and cooler to be a nerd so people flocked to it to show their nerd cred, so they make more movies and shilled more merchandise and it blew the fuck up instead of sinking into being a cult classic.

I feel it the originals deserve a bit of respect but anyone who puts them on a pedestal is a big bang theory tier pleb, and all the new ones are just generic sci-fi action money grabs
