So humans are basically beyond saving at this point, right?
>>
>>34275806
Wow that picture is so deep my dude
>>
>>34275806
Humanity is at its most peaceful golden age of its history. There is no saving it because its not in any danger or threat. Everything is perfect and as it should be.
>>
>>34275806
Pretty much. The environment is fucked and I doubt we can create some way to keep us alive when it all goes to hell in the next 20-50 years.
>>
>>34275806
Yes and no. Transhumanism is our salvation.
>>
>>34275984

>trans-humanism is our salvation
>implying the AI will have any use for humans
>implying constraints can be put on a superlative hyperintelligence capable of feats of Godhood

Hey, I mean, it's exciting, but if even does somehow manage to jive with humanity, it won't be to the benefit of poor pieces of shit like us.
>>
>>34275844
This is only because the masses have been subdued by mass consumerism....
>>
>>34275806
I would never trust an anon on r9k to have the slightest idea of how humanity will end up 100+ years from now.

>but I read transmetropolitan
>>
>>34276255
It's true, transhumanism would be surrendering our own domination of the planet and life as we understand it to something greater than ourselves. It is no different, if not more wise, to pass the torch to machines rather than our own children, yet that is why people insist we stay rooted in our ways.
>>
>>34277145
Good point, but I only posted this here because there's no more appropriate board.

Maybe. Society is pure degenerate cancer right now, oil reserves are running out, top soil is fucked, the population just keeps increasing, antibiotics are slowly losing their effectiveness, corruption is running rampant in politics, economic migrants keep pouring into Europe and you're racist if you complain about it, the econoky itself might shit itself again etc etc.

Better stop watching porn and buy land, anon.

one day a true rain will come and wash away our misbegotten species.

>>

what's the alternative?

genuinely asking.
>>
>>34277715
Kill the rich and eat the stupid. There is no solution. All of mankind is cancer. And it's too cancerous to even know what not being cancer even looks like, so it's hopeless.
>>
>>34277766
edgy, lad

i agree with you though. humanity itself is just the problem.

How can you say that when everyone is racist towards eachother, millions dying each month in the middle east, young men being shot and killed by the PEOPLE WHO WERE SUPPOSE TO PROTECT THEM. We are far from peaceful

everyone is too busy arguing and disagreeing to come up with an alternative.

there is a reason why most humans would rather $1000 today than $10000 in a years time.

Forward long term thinking is not our core strength right now. Majority of the world is still in the dark ages. You have one country preparing for space travel while another country is chopping off heads.

You want an alternative? Then get humans to agree with one another and work towards common goal instead of the goals of the individual.
>>
>>34275984
Transhumanism won't work, sorry. Programmers aren't up to the challenge.
>>
>>34277909
fewer people are dying from poverty, starvation, war, murder, and any other measure of violence than ever before, and this trend is continuing. look up the statistics and stop blindly listening to alarmist news
>>
>>34277999
yea, it's all brightness and rainbows man

except there is a massive heroin epidemic going on because so many people are fucking miserable
>>
>>34278041
Do you not understand the difference between gradually improving and perfect? stay in school kid
>>
>>34278041
I think what he is trying to say is that it seems bad today, but relative to the rest of human history less people are dying in war, less people die from disease, and less countries are each others throats. The main reason it feels so bad today is because we constantly hear about every tragedy everywhere in the world instantly. In the old days 100 workers could die in New York and it would make the local papers and pretty much nothing else. I mean millions died in world war 2, the US had less than 5,000 deaths in the Iraq war.
>>
>>34278041
Of course problems still exist in the world retard. Obviously specific things like heroin will occasionally get worse (this is due to the overuse of prescription opioids though, not "misery.") I'm talking about overall improvement

I think life is great new. Poverty is eliminated except as a lifestyle choice. Vaccines and drugs for damn near anything, and endless volumes available for free. As great as things are now it can only get better now that king ooga booga is leaving office.

Percent of people living in extreme poverty worldwide:
1910: 82% 1950: 72% 1970: 62% 1990: 37% 2015: 9.6%

World literacy:
1910: 26% 1960: 42% 1990: 68% 2014: 85%

Child mortality has halved in the last 25 years. Over half of people in the world live in a democracy compared to 35% in the 80s, and the majority of the remainder is China, which isn't doing too bad at all.

People are becoming much more educated as well. By all reasonable measures we are moving forward as a society

babies cant be vaccinated for reasons and have to depend on herd immunity around them.
>>
>>34278534

I work in health care so don't try lying to me. Babies can be vaccinated and are. They do not depend entirely on herd immunity. They're humans for fucks sake, not petri dishes.

Suggesting Trump put as antivaccer in charge of the whole entire world is beyond tinfoil lunacy. I am not even sure where to begin to address the topic. A Haldol injection would be a good first step.

Agreeing with one another is a bad idea. The differences are irreconcilable. Instead of trying to make everyone miserable we should agree to disagree and go back to strict nationalism. Nationalism put us on the moon. Diversity put my nation in turmoil. This should be an obvious choice. Nothing good has ever come from diversity.
>>
>>34277909
british cops are fucking pussies. American cops would have just shot the dumb nigger already
>>
>>34278643

Shit like this pisses me off. They should just kill themselves if they can't even produce $400 in an emergency. They can find money for satellite TV and to borrow a car but they don't even have a weeks wages socked away? Even when I was in high school I kept $1000 in oh shit money from my minimum wage job.

I get anxious because I don't have $30k in savings for oh shit moments. I'd be selling blood, sperm, and boipussy if I was so broke I couldn't even cover a half months rent. I grew up poor and hated it so I'm determined to choose to not be poor. It's been extremely easy even though my job I hate doesn't pay but $32k/yr.
>>
>>34278893

I recently learned it's even worse in Germany. They are required to fire randomly into crowds and the air as a 'warning shot' if they're in a dangerous situation. I thought the guy whasshitting me but two other yuros confirmed it was normal, and that when they do shoot a combatant they are trained to miss and hit their leg or arm instead of chest.

As much shit burger cops get I'm perfectly happy with them over the drooling psychotic retards the lesser countries use. Shit, half the time they'll let you off if you just smile and call them sir.
>>
>>34278997
no one wants to live like you constantly stressed
>>
>>34275806
We can be saved at any time but we're not going to do that, so yes.
>>
>>34278997
Shit like this pisses me off. They should just kill themselves if they can't even reduce the number of species they're wiping out, even in an emergency. They can find time for satellite TV and to buy a car and muh jerbs but they don't even have a spare thought for a week into the future? Even when I was in elementary school I had more sense than this, just realizing you don't shit where you eat.

I get anxious because I throw out a piece of cardboard rather than compost it. I'd be EXTERMINATING MANKIND if I had the power. I grew up in a world utterly broken by humanity and hated it so I'm determined to EXTERMINATE MANKIND. It's been extremely difficult living on the same planet as these cretins - even though they have infinite energy to wreck everything, they act like it will kill them to fucking recycle or have a few less worthless kids.
>>
>>34279134

I think you mean they don't want to live like me, not constantly stressed.

I don't know what we can do to fix the problem though. This is basic knowledge shit like put food in the refrigerator or take a shower every day. If they don't already know they shouldn't spend more money than they have what hope is there?

>>34279175

Species go extinct all the time, it's impossible to prevent. Recycling is a big issue though. Aluminum and glass are amazing yet people just throw it away with tampons and poop jugs. Baby steps first though. Teach them that money is important first, then we'll cover being responsible with it.

47% of americans, you can't be mad at all of them and their circumstances aren't the same. Not all are frittering their money away on shit they can't afford. If you're 45 and get paid $13 an hour at a factory, its gonna be rough. Trump will probably worsen things too.
>>
>>34275806
At the rate we're going I'd say we have a hundre few hundred years left at most. Assuming we don't colonize in space or push for transhumanism trends in time.
