I don't mind ecchi shows, most of them are actually pretty good since it's clear which intentions the anime has. They're not striving to be extraordinary, therefore they come off quite unpretentious, Monster Musume being a good example

I disregarded anime until my friend got me to watch some in summer 2015, then I spent a year at university just watching shows all the time and managed about 170. Kind of burnt out and started reading manga instead though, but back to watching seasonal stuff now.

Not at actual tournaments/events. But we did have competitive matches and i won almost all of mine because of my wrestling background. I'd just stay on top of them, and make half assed attempts at choke holds so i didn't get called for stalling, and cover their mouth/nose with my forearm until they were exhausted then i'd sink a 3 point or an arm bar.

Very boring to watch 10 minutes of that.

It has a stigma associated with it, pretty reasonable honestly. 95% of anime is either teenagers with big swords harem shit for hormonal teens, shows filled with little girls with mildly sexual humor, melodrama cuckold romance etc.

A lot of it is really really bad objectively and is only truly enjoyed if you disconnect your brain or are a low IQ basement dweller with little experience in anything outside of video games and superior nippon drawings. And even then a lot of it is just plain cringy and awkward to the average person and simply won't give it more than 5 minutes.

This is coming from someone who actually watches anime I'm just telling it like it is. If I didn't absolutely adore animation as an art form I really would have no reason to watch most anime besides a select handful each year. I just really like moving pictures and artwork. If you aren't a animation autist, anime aesthetic is normie repellant and they won't give it a chance, thus the only people that "get into" anime are usually people with low self-awareness or the shamelessness that can come with low self-esteem.

Most of them come from Chad Central known as /b/ and normie central known as /pol/
