I know it's a little late, but what kind of change did you promise to make this year?
I'm going to switch from eating 1500 calories to eating 1300, because I'm unable to lose weight.

How much protein do you get in a day? What kind of bread/grains do you eat typically? What's your average breakfast look like? These are usually more important questions than muh calories...

Coffee (no sugar or milk) in the morning
A packet of soup or a couple of jello cups in the evening, maybe an additional snack (maybe some chocolate) before we get in from work.
Then I eat maybe a potato with salt, a little bit of beef or something to go with it, maybe a high calorie drink, then I go to bed.

jesus christ dude what are you doing? you're eating so improperly. eat lots of protein rich food like nuts, lentils, and legumes. eat a fuck ton of trail mix and shit on the boat if you can.
2. doing the same repetitive tasks over and over isn't effective for either losing weight, or gaining significant muscle.
it sucks but you're going to have to work out in addition to working. your work workout is never going to be enough to give you proper muscle mass.

Have you been factoring in calories from sources besides normal. Like calories from alcohol and soft drinks or anything you might put into something as a topping/condiment/sweetener?
If you're 5'9" and legitimate consuming 1500 calories a day on average, and are still having trouble with weight management then you either have severe physical problems or you're simply lying to yourself.
You should go to /fit/ and read the sticky and ask for advice in the QTDDTOT or in the newbie thread. Like, seriously.
