Looks like I'll be going it alone
I kind of want to but I don't know how to manage my diet; even if I did I don't even know if I can afford the food
What's your workout? Something like Starting Strength?

You don't need expensive crap or good food to lose weight. You need to cut calories down. Average person is supposed to eat 2000, about 3500-4000 is a pound's worth. So consistently under eat by a specific amount. Without counting there's no point. Starting calorie count is like a bell curve, the fatter you are the more calories you can eat in a day without gaining even more mass. So if you're a real fatty you could be losing like a pound every 2-3 days by eating 1500 calories.
As for exercise, the important thing is to use free weights beginning at either 5-10. Anything more you don' have proper form and will do worse. Just google dumbbell exercises for each muscle group and do squats with a bar on your shoulders

You'll fail this year too.
The more you talk about it, the more you mentally jack yourself up at the idea of good resolutions. Once you got that mental orgasm, you don't feel like seeking it "for real".
Also gtfo with your 1200 cals diet. Cut 500 on maintenance, lose 50 pounds in a year.

SS is about building strength, not losing mass.

It's barely been a year and some months since I did it the 1st time. The problem is finding a norm afterwards

"falling out of line"
Stick to it.
Also you aren't alone, except I've been doing it steady for 3 years, and not "getting back to"
