Absalom, you drink alcohol every day. Do you ever stop to consider the reasons why you are engaging in such behavior? Take the time out of your day, and use your brain to evaluate the empirical and experiential evidence supporting a sober lifestyle.

I. Alcohol is a poison

You don't have to be Sa misunderstood genius to realize that alcohol has enormous deleterious effects on your long-term health. Cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic lung disease, diabetes, weight gain - these are all afflictions that can emerge even in the most moderate drinkers. Your drinking habit is a chronic, progressive, and fatal disease. In other words, you are becoming a brain-damaged, obese fuck. Your life will slowly slip away while you do nothing but pour yourself another glass.

http://alcalc.oxfordjournals.org/content/23/2/103.long - diabetes
https://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/aa63/aa63.htm - brain damage

II. Alcohol is a particularly bad addiction

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1530-0277.2001.tb02198.x/abstract
>>"Men tend to become more aggressive in laboratory studies in which they are drinking only tonic water but believe that it contains alcohol.

>>"Alcohol use and misuse impose economic burdens, with over half the total costs estimated associated with lost productivity.

https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/ac.pdf

III. Alcohol is ultimately a bane to your happiness as a whole.

The very reason you drink alcohol is to pursue some modicum of pleasure, if only by virtue of the numbness it brings. However, your idiotic brain fails to realize that you are ultimately subverting your overall hapiness. The very thing you seek by drinking alcohol is actually being ruined by the alcohol itself. The irony is astounding. Let's take a look:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8626352?dopt=Abstract
>> "A review of the effects of moderate alcohol intake on the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders."
>> CONCLUSION: "there is abundant evidence that patients with mood and anxiety disorders should abstain from even moderate ethanol use"

You can make a case for cannabis, LSD/shrooms, tobacco, and maybe benzos being "safer" than alcohol, but 99% of those charts is horseshit
>>
>>34200929
It's based on how much harm they actually cause in real life, not how dangerous they are per se.

So common drugs will be higher.
>>
>>34200929
Give evidence supporting your assertion that the charts are "bullshit"

I. The factors being analysed in the chart do not pertain to the "safety" of alcohol, rather, the harm it causes

These charts come from http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(10)61462-6/abstract

>>" we aimed to apply multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) modelling
>>"drugs were scored out of 100 points, and the criteria were weighted to indicate their relative importance."
>>"measures of harm both to the user and to others in society. These measures include damage to health, drug dependency, economic costs and crime."

II. One can argue that the rankings are stable because they are based on so many different measures and would require significant discoveries about these drugs to affect the rankings.

Accusing me of moralfaggotry without any refutations to the evidence provided? Tsk tsk, losing your spirit Samson.

Of course, studies have already shown that your answer is typical to those affected by the scrounge of alcoholism. Anything to believe that your "crutch" is helping you. Keep on doing the mental gymnastics, they only get stronger.

>I do know where this leads, which is why I started doing it

Brain damage, obesity, and overall greater misery. See, this is what is described in the research. Similar to how smokers rationalize their habit, you are providing another typical answer. You know, there are better options. It might involve the sacrifice of instant gratification, however there is still merit in trying.

As evident in >>34201155 drugs are seen as a "crutch" and "if it helps, it helps". This flawed thinking is only a mirage. I am not making an argument of "social morality" or "muh degeneracy"

THE FACT IS: YOU ARE NOT ULTIMATELY BEING HELPED BY DRINKING.
>>
>>34201537
I don't want to be helped though, I want to hedonistically self destruct. I've known this was going to be my fate for over a decade now, and I've finally embraced it. at this point, even if I could change, I don't want to
>>
>>34201537
>YOU ARE NOT ULTIMATELY BEING HELPED BY DRINKING
Whoa dude, seriously? Some sage information right there. Why don't you go work in some institution or facility instead of coming into a thread on the internet where people just want to talk and don't care at all.
>>
looks like time is catching up with you, bud.

>>
>>34201573
Well smithsonian I just ran out of beers tonight and took a shot of vanilla extract out of spite for the fact. No liquor around here and can't get any. I'm down to mostly beer and some wine every night, it could and has been much worse but there's just barely a point in anything I do. I don't care about having money and I've never found work that I actually like doing longterm. Been neet for months now.
I take it your still working of course?
>>
>>34201573
>I don't want to be helped though

If you do not want to be helped, then why do you drink in the first place? Hedonism is a form of helping yourself, albeit in the immediate short-term.

> I've known this was going to be my fate for over a decade now

Again, another answer mentioned almost explicitly in the study. The creation of a "fate" belief, and its soon-to-follow "acceptance"

>even if I could change, I don't want to

This phrase is almost universal in the parlance of addicts. It is even being evaluated to be included in the new DSM diagnostic criteria.

I implore you, give this some thought at least. Challenge some of your beliefs. You may find that you will be thankful in retrospect. You have more years ahead of you. Trust me, you do not want to be on your deathbed with alcohol as the defining characteristic of you life, as much as you may now think that you wouldn't care.
>>
>>34201762
m8, this is really the wrong kind of thread for that shit. I made this to get drunk with robots, not discuss the merits of alcoholism with some moralfag asshole. if I ask for advice, I'll accept it. otherwise, fuck off

>I made this to get drunk with robots

Encouraging alcoholism is regretfully cancerous, especially among the suggestible, mentally fragile individuals on this board (most reading this are not even of drinking age). Let's take a look at some of the evidence showing that these threads are an idiotic bane to the community as a whole:

http://bmcpediatr.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1471-2431-12-115
>>"The findings suggest that peer interaction plays a major role in alcohol use behavior "
