Bob's Burgers is pretty damn comfy. It's not as good as the simpsons in its prime but it's still a decent watch.

If you want to play it safe, just watch golden age simpsons.

I find Aqua Teen Hunger Force to be comfy. It can be loud but there's no strict plot or anything and doesn't really make you think, it's just fun.

Harvey Beaks is very comfy. Too comfy for some.

There are couple of things I came to hate about SU.

>No proper male character
>Setting is stupid

First one, in fact, is reason enough to stop watching it for me. I was hoping Steven can actually become a hero of sorts, he's 14(!!!) years old, but still acting like a 8y.o. kid. Not even this, whole show got only female "strong" characters. Stevens father is a loser(not a bad person, but a loser), none of humanity is slightly troubled by constant threat, nobody reversed-engineered gem tech, nobody is going insane about aliens and a half-breed boy. Mind that they have TVs, cameras, internet etc.

I know it's presented as a children cartoon, but we can see all the gender tones. If you want to do this correct, you should fucking show how everyone is presented here, so kid can choose for himself. But in case of SU it's just a brainwash.

Sorry, I hate seeing potential ruined like that.

i get what you're saying about steven. he starts out in the show as a 12yo boy, hes not able to really understand whats going on so everything seems somewhat magical and its all just him running around with the gems "trying" to help, its straight slice of life. but by season 2, 2 years have passed and hes actually able to comprehend whats going on so the story got a bit deeper, the age progression is nice.
as far as tech, the time period the show is set in is closer to 2012 judging by the daily items they use(the phones, computers, etc.). not to mention the whole world is set up differently, with different continents and a different history altogether thanks to gems having been on earth. gem tech is "beyond our understanding" and cant be copied by humans, and if it ever was, the gems would have stopped whoever was doing it to "protect" humanity.
the gender tones and the blatant gay promoting in the show is a bit cringy sometimes, but you got to understand the whole concept of gems, they dont reproduce, they dont have sex, they dont HAVE a gender to begin with, and they dont have relationships usually, all they have is fusion, and thats taboo for most of them. its alot to explain to someone who suddenly catches you watching a scene with two girls rubbing their faces together and dancing lewdly. but how is that any different than anime right?!

This is not clearly stated or even mentioned. Still humanity would've had archaeology and stuff and there are only 3 initial gems, they can't possibly stop everyone. We know nothing about outside world, like this bay town is only thing in it. And this bothers me. I don't want pure realism here ofc, just some kind of a reason why is it like that? Pure realism there would be some military parties that will try capturing these gems and using them for info.

The thing with gems I think is that most of the tech is very specific to their unique bodies. They're beings made of light, most of their structures or equipment is on far away or out of reach places unknown to earthlings. As far as we know, only Beach City knows of gems, and they're regarded as strange, but there's a whole "Beach City is just weird" schtick that seems to satisfy most fans. I'm wondering if they'll honestly have the rest of the world involved at some point in some way. Something akin to when the Power Puff Girls went to Citiesville and no one wanted anything to do with them.
