Moreover Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragon Ball Z are action oriented shows first and foremost, so that sort of thing might be enticing for kids with autism. No clue what the fuck Black Butler's about.

I do highly recommend watching Super Eyepatch Wolf's videos on anime, he's actually fucking brilliant at deconstructing what makes anime work. Sadly he doesn't have any on those specific anime you mentioned.

Autists like anime in general, it's just the show you listed are entry-tier shit that most begginer casuals will probably watch because they don't know any better. Dragonball and YuGiOh in particular also had dubbed english releases so they probably watched them as part of their saturday morning cartoons when they were young kids and liked them from then, not specifically because they were anime.

It's just escapism really. I guess it also helps that anime artstyles (and cartooning in general) are usually more expressive with facial details so it's eaier for them to understand the emotions being portrayed.

Also I assume you're teaching teens and teens love edgy shit, which show like Black Butler certainly have, although I've not watched it personally.

Make sure next time though you tell them that Anon said they have shit taste in anime and are a bunch of filthy casuals.

In parts 7 and 8 stands get toned down a bit from the bullshit they were pulling in 5 and 6 to be more along the lines of "Special ability this person has" than "super powered punch ghosts". Alright, so my degree is actually in biotechnology, I used to work in a lab. Shit happened ( including my mom getting very sick) so I moved back home and took a job as a substitute teacher (which allowed me to set my own schedule so I could stay home and help my,mom out when she needed it)

One day I sign up for a job as an "extra person". Normal that means you move from class to class all day, but in this case they had me stay in the autism program all day and disguised it with the title of "extra person" because nobody wants to take those jobs.

Long story short I was really good at working with autistic kids and they hired me full time.

hey op, encase you happen to check this thread again, I just wanted to say thanks for what you do, I was diagnosed with Asperger's late in my teens, and had to go to the special needs classes even though I understood school just fine, but I got to see into that life for a bit and I just wanna say thank you, it cant be an easy job but thank you for doing it, and helping them out. i'm sure a lot of them really apriciate what your doing/have done for them.
