Works for some people, others get no effect from it. If it works for you consider yourself lucky. It didn't do anything for me but I've heard they can make you feel really nice without the negative side effects of things like opioids or benzos.

I've been on Gabapentin a few times over the past year or so. I was prescribed doses ranging from 100mg to 300mg which I would take three times a day (as needed). It didn't feel much different than a benzodiazepine. With anxiety, I think it helped a lot, but even now I'm still not sure if I like it or not.

It really did seem to effectively get rid of my physical anxiety and feelings of guilt, but whilst on it, I would often feel very slow and stupid. It also gave me an anguishing sensation.. like not being able to "feel" my thoughts. I guess it felt like I always had something on the tip of my tongue.

Even though it was marketed as a mood-stabilizer at some point (they got sued), I think this medication caused me some intense anger issues and suicidal thoughts. The withdrawal was on par, if not worse than any "benzo" withdrawal I've been through, but to be fair, I was taking it regularly for about 3 months.

But like I said, I'm really not even sure how it affects me still. I'm probably full of shit, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
