Depends on the subplebbit. Most of them are as retarded as us, if not worse. On the other hand if you compare something like /his/ with something like AskHistorians, reddit is easily better. Having accounts and moderation, with actual experts given preference over shitposters, is generally better than every anonymous retard having an equal say, endless shitposts drowning out any decent content. I haven't left my house in 6 years. No clue why anyone would use the internet honestly. I only use 4chan 99% of the time. If I want to discuss things why would I post on a website that tracks my post history and forces me to stay consistent in my world views? It leaves no room for growth.

Before the internet people could discuss ideas with friends and that would be that. But now that everything is cemented permanently on the internet it's much more difficult to speak up about things you believe.
