To us it may be the norm, but normies don't meet people from the internet. It's for people who are socially inept irl. Do you stop yourself from talking about URL acquaintances to IRL friends in case they ask how you met? If they do, do you tell them you met on a mongolian fishing forum or do you make up a cover?
